Won't be using the kit decals apart from some generic parts. A choice of two Danish Drakens on Modeldecal sheet 17 ( only difference is the codes )

Cockpit is more than a bit basic, seat bears almost no resemblance to the Saab 73SE-F but the canopy is so small I don't think it's worth changing

hi kit welcome to the GB , looking forward to seeing your progress with the danish draken will it be an earlier version with the faded dark green paint or one of the later period when they got repainted in a protective more glossy finish that didnt fade much

1971 so that is more than likely the Matt Green period, can't find a date when they changed over

Perfect SIG display material and a really nice choice of kit.

IIRC from the photos I studied a while ago whilst researching Danish Air Force aircraft (primarily Super Sabres), their F-100D's were in a matt green finish at the start of the 1970's and so were their F-104G's but the finish did appear to weather quite a lot if my memory serves me right, so it might be safe to assume that the Draken fleet was similarly painted. In around 1970 I think aircraft were in a mix of NMF and green, or certainly the F-100's were. HTH.

Thanks for the input guys, seems the date for the gloss repaint was around 1977 so scruffy matt it is ( apologies to anyone here called Matt  ) . Found a Maestro Models Danish Draken update so gonna put this one on hold til it gets here.

Yes, that's the sort of weathering I was talking about - makes the average WW II Japanese aircraft in the pacific look neat and tidy :ha:

Wow, I know the Danes didn't take good care of their aircraft in the late seventies but...wow.

Sheesh, someone send that poor thing to Wales, where dragons still get some respect.

Serious bragging rights if you pull off that messed up finish though :-D

Was just going to use the kit cockpit but as there is a nice new cockpit and seat in the set it would be rude not to use it

Technically this is the third attempt at the cockpit   Painted it grey then found out the Danish Drakens had green cockpits same as the Swedish Drakens so on went the green.
