The Monitor now has hatches for doors. I am now searching for a suitably thin thread of wire to apply for door handles.

Image

The discrepancy on the rear gunwhale has been addressed, a piece of scrap carefully bent to shape and glued inch by inch. Once dry, it will be filed to profile.

Image

A pair of air intake scoops donated have been donated by the Landing craft. These are either side of the wheel house, once it has been fitted.

Comments and criticism welcome.

The Monitor.
The high point on the repaired rear gunwhale has been rectified. This was done with the obvious method of filing and sanding until correct.

Port holes have drilled into the body of the monitor

Unless I spot anything that I have missed, they are both now ready for the first coat of paint (white) courtesy of rattle can.

Great work. Those small cannons let into the monitor sides are very cool.

The Monitor.
The life boat rack, a work in progress. Carefully measured and designed, then added up wrong. This means that before I can attach the cradles for the boats, I have to cut 15mm from the middle and rejoin the two halves. I realised this after I had taken this photograph.

Image

They are called AAARRRGGGHHH MOMENTS for a reason.

Image

I was painting the interior of the paddle steamers wheel house, and as I opened the bottle illustrated, it spat paint over the two interiors and the exterior of the paddle steamer, as you see.
They where easily, but time wastingly corrected.

The interior of the monitors wheel house nearly ready to fit inside the wheel house. Built using bits of scrap plastic and a wheel from the spares box. A crew may yet be added, still to be decided.
The paddle steamers wheel house interior is not quite finished, and will be shown shortly.

Image

The life rafts from the paddle steamer have had the inadequate rack removed and are now ready for paint before being attached to the new racks that are already fixed to the rear deck of the paddle steamer.

Image

The signal poles will be swapped over. Below you see the staff from the Robert E Lee which will be tidied up, deflashed, shortened and fitted to the wheel house on the paddle steamer.

Image

Comments and criticism welcome.

The Monitor, Sprayed Black and White using rattle cans and the decks painted Tamiya Wooden Deck Tan by hairy stick. In the back ground you see the unfinished paddle wheels.

Image

Other than the Deck Tan the same was done to the paddle steamer with the addition of the Red from a Citadel rattle can.

Image

I'm sure you know this feeling!

Image

Paint lifted when I removed the masking tape.
It happened in a few places on the hull of the Lindberg kit, but no where on the other. I don't think i did anything wrong, both where treated the same using the same paint.
Maybe the White Matt paint(from Hobbycraft, that I was using for the first time) that I used as a base coat didn't like the Lindberg Plastic?
Any suggestions of my wrong doing?

Maybe rough up the area to be painted a little with sand paper and have another go at it, maybe decanted first as well if it was from a spraycan. Was the Matt White acrylic or enamel?
