Acrylic.

That's a bummer. I have a similar issue on the VTOL SB today. In my case it's acrylic topcoat airbrushed but lifted by masking tape. I know why it lifted - I didn't prime it. I find even an acrylic primer helps.

I managed to sand mine down and repaint. Not perfect looking but acceptable. A bit trickier for you given the three colours and need for sharp demarcation but it's all I can suggest.

Normally I use Citadel rattle cans as a base coat, either Chaos Black or Skull White. I get them from a wargaming shop a short drive away, and have always had good results. This time, since I was in Hobbycraft I bought their Matt White rattle can. Mainly to save a journey across town, the fact that it was half the price was a bonus (£5:00 as opposed to £12:50). Money not well saved?

I have assessed the damaged paint and come to the conclusion that there is no way I could repair it and finish the paddle steamer in time, so I have decided to withdraw it and declare it D.N.F.(pictures of the damage to follow).
This will allow me to race to the finish with the Monitor.
I will of course complete the build of the paddle steamer on the water craft section.

I have sanded back the damaged areas of the paint as stated above and the pictures are below.





Since the damage is as you see, it will take too long to repair properly. I will therefore wait till the group build has finished and the continue the build on the watercraft thread. The Monitor will continue unaffected.

Nice work and good remediating on the paddler. I have found that in order for acrylic to stick it needs a proper base coat of rattle can primer, but I reckon you are on it now and I am sure it will turn out brilliant in the end.

Well here we are on the sprint to the finish with the Monitor.



These are all the components needed to finish.

Deflashed and deseamed, stock (cross bars) added and painted black.



Life boats bought after market.



Two days ago I went for the Christmas dinner (postponed because of the snow before Christmas) of the artist society of which I am a member. While dining I noticed the serviette by my plate and thought that it would make an ideal tarpaulin for the hold on the paddle steamer, and by extention for the lifeboats.



Tertiary armaments, 20mm cannon taken from the L.C.I.



Nothing done to them, just painted to look period. A little more paint needed to finish.



The capstan taken from the Robert E Lee, lever holes drilled into the spindle and mounted on a tread plate.



The wheel house with the interior fixed in place.

Shame about the paint on the paddler. The parts for the monitor are looking good though.

Oh well! Despite the extension I'll have to admit D.D.N.F. after all. I just gave myself too much to do.
The Monitor is now in sight of the finish line, but a lot of the jobs that need doing are time consuming and fiddley.



The anchor winding gear, before. And halfway through. The gap between the drum and safety plate has been opened up and blocks glued underneath to raise the height to allow me to wind an anchor rope around it, as well as other minor details not all obvious.



A little more work is required to finish. As well as the rope chain, still to be made.
The life boat rack was carefully designed and built and came out just as I wanted. But when viewed in position it looked to high and dominated the rear deck to much.



So I have cut it down to a less dominating hieght.



The life boat derricks are once again taken from the Robert E Lee and have been deseamed and cut down to suit, though they may be cut down a little more before being rigged.



The signal mast has come from the Landing Craft. Inevitably needing tidying up. The little bench at the base has been added to allow rigging for signal flags, a job to complete before attaching behind the wheelhouse.



The fore deck with fo'rard jack staff, anchor hook and anchor chain guide.



The funnel, scratch built and inspired by the one on H.M.S. Conqueror.
I'm not satisfied with it so I will bin this one and build another.



How she stands at the moment.



A fun group build to take part in, I just gave myself too much to do. I'll start a thread in water craft and finish them both at my leisure and give them the attention they deserve.
