The gaps aren't that bad. The wings are just lying there and will push up closer to the roots.

Fin and wings are on as staright as I can get them (which means not quite!). The long strake along the spine was missing from the fin so I used the piece I had cut off the trailing edge of the fin instead.

I daren't touch it again until the cement has dried overnight.

I'm impressed with how you got those wings on so snugly, David!

Well done on the strake and those ailerons too!

Thanks, Auk, they were not as bad a gap as I feared but still a bit noticeable........

They are now drying having been stuffed with bits of polystrene rod and gobs of filler.

I think you are giving those wing roots way too much credit. They really are an atrociously poor fit. That this is going together at all is testament to your patience and skill.

Great job so far. If it had been mine I think I'd have left it in the stash. :)

I think I've done all the PSR this kit merits except maybe some filler touchups if the primer coat reveals small issues.

The tailplanes have had a bit of plastic rod inserted to help locate them properly. The canopy is just sat there for now but seems a reasonable fit.

I'm not happy with the afterburner so may play with that a bit.

Some great work on this beast of a kit. I am seriously considering completly forgetting where I put my Merlin Meteor after watching this build.

All the best.

Bury it deep in the stash, Greg.

I built the Meteor but could not get the Merlin wings and nacelles to look like anything let alone part of a Meteor. So I mated the fuselage and tail to Frog F 4 wings. Looks fine to me.

Yes those wing root gaps were quite bad but, hey, there's nothing much that can't be fixed with a bit of filler :ha:
