VV's whatiF-16 **non-starter, parts missing**

Select the most rubbish kit in your stash, one that probably has no other chance of seeing a workbench, and build it however you wish - and have fun doing it along with others likewise occupied.
The GB runs from 27 Dec through 31 Jan and your host is DazDaMan.

VV's whatiF-16 **non-starter, parts missing**

Post by VickersVandal »

Most people know of Blacktron for their intergalactic shady activities and for being a perpetual thorn in the side of the Space Police. What is generally not well known is that prior to the advent of faster than light travel and the colonization of space, in the second quarter of the 21st century, Blacktron arose partially out of the collapse of the USA (commonly known, of course, as the "Trumpocalypse") as a mercenary and gun-running group using repurposed and often obsolescent military equipment, similar to the mercenary gun-runners of the 1990s in their Iluyshins and Antonovs after the collapse of the USSR. This brought them into regular conflict, of course, with the increasingly militarized UN Police (later amalgamated into the Space Police).

It is this period of the Blacktron history that I will be modelling a subject from.

I'll be using the atrocity that is the PM Models 1/72 F-16c. This is NOT a quality kit. Fortunately, for this flight of fancy I just need it to look mostly like an F-16, which the kit does manage to achieve.

Here is a sprue shot:

Pretty simple scheme ahead. Can anyone former Space Lego enthusiasts predict where it's headed?.... ;)

To my eyes, that looks like a cheap copy of Matchbox´ F-16? I´m not absolutely sure- what d´you say?

There are worse PM kits for sure.... it´s a nice choice for this GB ;-)
It fascinates me, that so many jump on this KK-GB train!
....And it fascinates me too, that I get more & more drawn to old, often krappy, kits
(or should I be worried?) -
Maybe just a phase? :???:

Some of us like krap kits because when it turns out badly, we can blame the kit.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Well, speaking of things going missing, I've just realised I have lost the canopy somehow.
To keep my stash compact, I amalgamate similar kits into boxes from larger kits, so clearly it has gone astray in that process.

I don't have the time or the will right at the moment to try to produce a replacement so I'm going to have to shelve this one, unfortunately

I'll have another look through some of the other boxes in the stash, but I'm not too hopeful.

I have a few truly ghastlies in the stash you can have but mailing them to Aus wouldn't leave you much time to build one. Let me know if that's any help.

Thanks for the very kind offer but as you say, it wouldn't really leave time to get it done. I have two other group builds I'm trying to close out by the end of the month so it was already pushing it to get this done without the missing part into the bargain...

We'll see if it turns up on a more thorough search.

If this is a fantasy build - why not trying to fit in a different left-over canopy (just my idea) into this?

Fair suggestion CP, but I do want it to retain the F-16 look even if it is a flight of fancy. Besides which, the number of modern aircraft in my stash could be counted on one hand, so I don't really have that option.

When I dig through the stash (actually not a simple task, hence not having done so yet) I will see if there might be another Krap Kit that might fit the bill and could be built quickly.
