I´m afraid I caused a misunderstanding. I don´t dare yet to do ships, because they are a lot more difficult to make look good, than planes! And specially in a GB, where time is really ticking away!
Maybe my comment sounded a bit braggart?
I´m just biased against Lindberg, thats all. I´m lacking the opportunity to prove my biased attitude wrong, they´re really hard to come by, where I live

I can’t see anything wrong with you posts. We all have favourites, I used to love Monagram kits but could never afford or get them when I was young.

Sorry I have not been active in here but "life" has been on my back a bit this week .. Does no one do an etch set of ships door type enhancements etc - White Ensign used to do loads of that type stuff, Peter Hall on his own now as Atlantic does some doors and hatches and ladders

Anything close to 1/240 will work fine.

Here are 3 that I rely on:
White Ensign PE is now handled by Tom's Model Works: http://www.tomsmodelworks.com; (not sure I see any 240-ish of use)
There is also Gold Medal Models: http://www.goldmm.com; (see #240-5, but he is mail order only)
And, of course Atlantic Models: http://www.atlanticmodels.net; (although I don't see any 240-ish)

It looks like 1:240 is not a popular scale

I have ordered some thermo softening plastic to make mounds for the extra Higgins boats, but in the mean time had a go at using twin pack silicone mould, the results aren’t that bad and will do for the time being. Normally I use two part liquid resin but this time I’m using cheap car two part body filler.



The original is at the front next is straight out of the mould and at the back, cleaned up with a coat of primer.

That looks to be a pretty good result Alan and certainly looks fine under a coat of primer

I’m happy how the Higgins boats have turned out and a quick coat of primer on the main hull has not shown up any big areas that might need attention .

You've done yeoman's work on the LST Splash and I think your father would be right proud!

would probably give you doors, railings, and parts to spiffy up the guns, maybe some other details, but wouldn't get to you before the GB ended. If you are doing this for Dad, it might be worth a thought to "DNF" here so you can finish it later.

Cheers John for the link there is some nice stuff on there, unfortunately with the exchange rates and minimum $50 spend, plus 15% postage makes it a tad too expensive.

I have some 1:350 railings that I think will work.
