Agreed, you have captured the look of the real uniform quite well !

Nice work on the camo, I wouldn't have fancied attempting it!

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.
Rob, I like the idea of the pencil, but instead opted for my finest pointy paint brush and reduced the overall width of the squiggles with that.

I also painted the equipment and gave the flesh another base coat to kill off the primer coat. I hoping to finish this for the weekend - Fingers crossed.
I have to fix the front sight, as a piece was missing and I'll also have to add a sling.

Great work on the camo, and other details, like the ammo pouches and jungle boots. Good luck with the finish on this one.

Cheers guys.
The face was painted and the head added. I'm leaving the boonie hat as plain green.
The rucksack was also glued on
still to finish the M16 and give it a dull coat.
Not long to go now

Thank you Marky.

The figure is finished. I'll get some pics up soon.
Now its onto the base. To give it a Vietnam / Jungle look I decided to add some bamboo.
I know 1/35 bamboo is available to buy but I decided to try scratchbuilding some.
I used some 1.6mm Evergreen rod. It was cut into small pieces, about 10-13mm.
Using a pair of tweezers, the individual pieces were held close to a candle flame for about 2 seconds. This caused the ends to "mushroom" as can be seen in the photo:

These were then glued together in twos and allowed to dry:

Then they were assembled into full size lengths:

Maybe not the most accurate bamboo but its close. Hopefully it will look better under a coat of paint.

Dude, that is an awesome bamboo from scratch idea. Leaves from slivers of scrap paper and stretched sprue for shoots as well, perhaps?
