Great start, that’s an excellent blitz idea of painting the wings befor assembly.
Watch out for how much paint that you use on the cockpit sides, the tolerance on the new Airfix kits can be that close that the thickness of the paint will effect the fit of the body when you close it up.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

well not strong Starbuck dark roast dark has less java juice oops...... need to brew up some more
the cockpit decal fell off oops...i should have to try to sleep more...
In the third hour and the cockpit is in the fuselage...it did not go well it spread out the fuselage creating gaps...try to tape tight to set
Things just did not line up well and that cause me to get tamiya glue in a number of spots...out comes the sanding paper...
The prop assembly is done but did not attach with plug on inside of fushalge will attach near end of build to prevent it getting bent or worse
broken
Cockpit glued but cut tab to attach back of seat
Pilot painted I guess
Cockpit painted yes Splash way too much paint...oops know for a next time...
too late for fit this cockpit...should have read your post first
Thought I save time of masking top and bottom of paint scheme... first try see how it goes i guess...
Ooo yah there was amputation of two feet the pilot would not seat well in the seat... it actually spread back rest and I.P. and pilot rode high

Good food and coffee what more could one want.
I always find it strange that manufacturers spend so much time and effort producing the perfect Spitfire cockpit when none of it can ever be seen one the canopy is on.

Little after 7 ... Down on the waterfront by Dire Straits is on my clock
Painted wheel wells before gluing wings, did not see instructions to paint the rest of inside wing black maybe for the bullet injections slots?
Glue wings together
Masked underside to paint
Wings rudder and tail fins on the fuselage
Exhaust ports painted black and the poiot tube painted too...is that close to right name for that part??
Under side parts painted like wheel struts wheels intake ports... still need to paint antenna what ever camo colour it turns out to be near mount hole
The topside fuselage still needs to be painted and top of stabilizers and tail ...
slight paint touch up to top of wings when there was paint bleed blotch
Underside is fully painted except bottom of stabilizers... to mask to paint base brown camo then camo earth green...
then gloss for decals and put on bits and tackle .... haha
The sun just woke up ...wish I was up for 4 1/2 hours but On Every Street by Dire Straits is playing...glad I move clock to workspace from bedroom

It is 8 and the Lions by Dire Straits is playing:
Masked to paint topside...
I know I laid it on thick
I did the canopy lines and used toothpick to clean up mess and used Kleer to clear coat it
Just need to paint the underneath of stabilizers...then spray tamiya clear coat for decals and put on wheels and small bits and pieces
Think I am going to take a break...for a bit

Fantastic progress but where the heck did you find an Eccles cake in Alberta (although I have found a bakery that makes them in Toronto)?

Ummm, don't you need to paint on the rest of the camo. I can't see it in the pics?
Eccles cakes are an English delicacy and not at all common in Canada and I've never seen any in the US. Safeway is a UK supermarket chain. Maybe somebody in Canada imports them???
