PS. Now you are sure THIS one has the right shaped escape hatch, aren't you? :-).

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

You had to mention that didn't you! :-D
Off to a good start, and well done for salvaging the doors 8-)

That was the first thing I checked when I opened the Plastic Soldier box.

They used Churchill mk lll to convert the Gun Carriage with square hatches so this is the right version to start with.

I’m having problems cutting the round holes in the front due to the thickness of the plastic I’m using so I might have to use thinner plastic in layers.

I have managed to get around the hole cutting by using thicker plastic.

Work on the new turret has started.

You guys have a Malteser spread now? Maybe I shouldn't have emigrated.

Great work on the front of that new turret.

It’s the first time I have tried it, my wife found it on offer in the shops and I must admit it is quite yummy :-D but has a strange smooth crunchy texture.

The new casement is coming on fine, as you can see I’m using the kits top hatch which will allow me to use the kits tank commander.

Time for bed so see you all in the morning.

Last post of the night.

To build the sides I’m just glueing over size sides that I will trim when the glue sets.

Cheers guys, just got up after a good nights sleep, porridge and coffee for breakfast, as soon as that’s finished it will be back to work trimming the casement.

Alas I've missed quite a bit of this but I have to say I'm very impressed with the work done so far, Alan. Scratch building to this degree in a blitz is pretty ambitious I must say but you look to be making excellent progress.

Cheers Shaun, the trick was to pick a simple subject and a very very very simple kit :-D

The barrel needs to tapper so I have found some 1/16 aluminium tube and sleeved it with plastic tube then put it in my electric drill and then carefully sanded it down as the drill rotated.

I’m very happy how this is turning out.
