Mav's Simple Start but still ended in a DNF

Evening all!
After previous GB fails I've decided to go with something very simple.
I'm starting off my first blitzbau build with this 1/72 Z-142 from Hobby Boss.
Its one of their "Easy Assembly" kits so a perfect kit to start with.
Heres an overview of the contents on the front room floor:

I am still unsure whether to go with the scheme shown in the box art or spice it up a little with a what if scheme throwing in some close air support weapons with maybe an RAF low vis scene using SWMBO's reciently aquired on a visit to Hannants London Xtracrylix Gulf War Desert Pink?
What does everyone think to that idea?

The food I will be snacking on in the first bit of the build(depending on how fat im feeling) will be a twin pack of Jaffa Cakes, thought, Cake or Biscuit?
Image

As for drink I'll be keeping things clean with a bottle of Bitter Shandy as I actually want a chance of 1. finishing and 2. getting a model at the end of it haha!
Image

Entertainment I think will start off with the DVD box set of the series James May's Toy Stories!

And finally I'll be starting this one off tomorrow morning after I finish a very short shift(if they have changed my shift I will post as to not cause confusion).

Looking forward to this guys so please feel free to comment and add tips and hints and keep the conversation going!

Good choice and that looks like it should go together quickly - even I might be able to build one of those in under a month :ha: Seriously, best of luck with it and if you feel like spicing it up as a whiffer close support version with a bit of under wing weaponry then why not? It's your blitz but just bear in mind that the more parts you add, the longer it will take!

Jssel - Thanks but what with?
Dazzled and Iggie - thanks guys looking forward to it.
ShaunW - haha I'm glad you agree!
I have a plan with the weapons so that's all covered, I'm still coming up with something for the Pylons but I'll build the kit in today's 12 hour session and then add all the weapons and pylons in tomorrows.
I'll be starting at dinner time so around 12.

Ok here we go, I would have started dead on half two but I've been having problems uploading to Flickr!
My phone didn't seem to like it but a 3pm start works out for me.
So its fitting Im using a Disney Planes Cup I bought in Walt Disney World, because why not?
A nice culpa from the Mrs will start me off nicely, she.makes the best cup of tea!

Also here is an idea on how much she will carry:

Anyway I'm off to put my DVD on wish me luck and see you all very shortly.

Marfa cakes are indeed cakes btw; the courts decided this a few g years back during a VAT status case. Cakes go stale and are zero rated for VAT, whereas biscuits go soggy and are subject to VAT. Jaffa cakes were shown in court to go stale and are therefore cake.
Good luck with the build

So just over an hour in, the main parts have been sanded and smoothed out, interior parts primed and seat belts added using tape.

Jaffa Cakes finished my search begins for another snack.....

Cockpit finished, fuselage closed up and glued and the instrument panel decal is now on.

The last hour or so was spent trying to figure out how to ass weight without destroying the cockpit.
I added what I thought was enough before closing up but I didn't realise just how tail happy this baby bird is!
All sorted now though, had to paint 2 of the weights black so there not as visible through the glass.

Now that's done I need to attend to the little one as sleep time is very soon for her.
