Thanks, Gents!
dwomby wrote:Good solution with the base. Interesting that you (and others) put the wheels on before painting them. I always paint them separately but maybe I don't need to.

I prefer leaving off the wheels/struts to paint them separately, but at this size, I preferred to get everything attached and not have to fiddle too much with it after the fact. Unfortunately, the priming showed some pretty significant issues, so I'm dealing with those now. Where the fuselages joined along the side, there was a decent seam showing. It was visible before priming, but terribly so afterwards. Now I get to try to straighten that out before I can put some paint on it.

Pretty sure one, or both, antennae will be knocked off in the process. So, while the filler dries, I shall go have dinner.

Dinner was great. Steaks, fries (aka chips), and a nice bottle of red.

The Mig is now painted, and the canopy is in place, but it still needs some touch ups. As predicted, the antennae were knocked off. One during the sanding phase, the second during the painting phase. Now, they'll both remain off until the model has decals. No sense adding them now, only to have them knocked off one more time.

Although, I really liked the Egyptian scheme, I've decided to go with a Cuban Mig. There were some really great choices with this kit.

I'll be adding a gloss coat tonight, then calling it quits for the evening. More in the morning.

Excellent result so far and I agree about the steaks; they look fantastic. What scale are they? :-D

Excellent progress, Mig and that is looking very nice indeed. The MiG-15 is an old favourite of mine.

Great progress and food. I think Cuban markings are a very cool choice too.
Keep the pics coming.

Thanks, Gents.

I was really favoring the green Egyptian markings, but the Cuban flag marking won me over.

For all intents and purposes, this one is done, but I still need one more gloss coat and to mount it on it's base. Woke up early and put the finishing touches on the Mig. Here's how it looks dressed.

Here's the last shot available of the underside. It won't be visible once it's on the base. I put a simple wash in the wheel wells.

Now, it's off to give it a spray and to get me some breakfast!

I agree. Those markings make me want to smoke a cigar.

It's finished!

This is a nice little kit and it's a shame I lost the first one. Had a simple breakfast of cold cereal.

Image

For whatever reason, Mittens sat and stared like this at my bowl of cereal the whole time I ate. It's not like she needs to eat more.

Image

After breakfast, I put a quick clear coat onto the model and got it ready for it's finish.

So, in just under 22 hours (elapsed), the Eduard 1/144 Mig-15 is complete.

This is the third time I've built a Mig-15 for a Blitzbau.

Now, I need to figure out what to go with next....
