Shame about the overspray but the side I can see looks really good.

Overspray all sorted now Tim.TimJ wrote:Shame about the overspray but the side I can see looks really good.
As you can see I have added the only decals in the form of black wing walk ways.
Wheels are on and painted as is the radio antenne, prop just needs a touch up then that can be attached.
Still need to paint the exhaust and gun barrels. The rocket pods had no detail so I painted them a lighter green and applied black dots to simulate the rockets inside the pod. I'm just researching to see if nav lights are needed.
I have no parts left so must be getting close to completion.
Time to tackle that canopy.
This always makes me laugh

I'm calling this one done. Another completion
I could spend time cleaning up the canopy but I need to be up in the morning.
Thanks for tuning in.

Very smart! I do love some of those obscure paint schemes.

Now that looks very good, OT, very good indeed. In fact I could be fooled into believing that a proper modeller had lavished quite a long time on it

Re: OT has a Valentines date with a Texan - *** Underway ***
Thanks chaps, it was fun to do with only a couple of mishaps. Technically it should be a Harvard Mk.II rather than a Texan but I didn't do my research. I think the only external difference between the two is a longer exhaust on the right hand side that provides heating to the cockpit. Could add that later.
The HB kit is ideal blitz fodder let down only by its canopy fit. If I were doing it as a normal build I'd add some detail to the interior, just some framework and instrument panels.
I think the problem with the canopy is that the locating tabs push the edges inside the fuselage wall. So just cut them off, don't know why I didn't think of that at the time.
Thanks Shaun glad you like it. I've never been accused of being a proper modeller before.ShaunW wrote:Now that looks very good, OT, very good indeed. In fact I could be fooled into believing that a proper modeller had lavished quite a long time on it

Hope I'm not stuck in a rut! I do have a Yak-18 in the stash.Spaceowl wrote:

Nice job! Seems every other so called brushfire war had Texans/Harvards involved at some stage of the proceedings.....
