Jeff's number two Blitz***Finished***
Jeff's number two Blitz***Finished***
Just got this gift today from SWMBO. It would not be proper of I didn't start it soonest.
The Zvwzda 1/72 scale Medieval Life Boat. Sure looks like a "long boat" to me. Any input welcome.
Boxart:
Parts:
I noticed many tiny knockout tab marks on the decking. Bye Bye wood grain.
So will be starting off at 0800 EST or around 1300 our time (I think).
Maybe some nautical music is on top.

Re: Jeff's number two Blitz***Tomorrow morning***
Interesting choice. It looks suitable for a Blitz though.

I've built a few of these. This is also the same little boat you get as a ships dinghy come lifeboat on the pirate ship for pirates of Caribbean kit. It Is a very sweet simple build.

Something unusual there Jeff.
I wish my better half would give me kits.

Definitel something a bit different. Did they really have "life boats" in medieval times?

Being a bit of a history buff, thinking a Great Lakes transporter of the 60th American in 1760-63. Taking the Brits to outposts around nasty entanglements with the French and local Indigenous people.

Re: Jeff's number two Blitz***Under Way***
Unreal.
I posted about an hour ago and apparently it didn't really go on thread.
So.........here are two updates at once.
I am finding the kit to be very clean with a little tweaking for the parts. Very clean molds.
Hour two.
Main construction well underway. Preliminary painting to hull and decking.
The two issues that I see with this build is 1: Wood grain effect for overall finish and 2: There is not much rigging to do but it is still there and the instruction sheet needs to be studied a little more when the time comes.

A case of "Blitzus Interuptus" A letter in the mail required a quick trip up to the University to have a letter of Verification faxed in. It is so nice to run into caring, expedient folks. Seriously. There is so few times that happens.
So............time to think about some rigging. Let's see Black for standing and Brown for running.
Also another cup of, well, something a little stronger.

This is something a bit different, Jeff and that boat has some very nice looking detail. That Beatles cup of yours there reminds me of being in a band a few years ago and we thought it would be a good idea to try some of McCartney and co's songs. All went well until it came to the singing. Oh dear. We received an abject lesson in just how well those boys could sing and harmonize!!

Very fast work on what looks to be a very nice kit indeed!
Best wishes

Standing rigging under way. Not much to it and the holes are pre-drilled in the mast. I needed to drill the holes in the decking for the backstays I think they are called.
