Re: Today - Beany's Buccaneer - well, actually it's a Corsai
00:30 Final update of this session.
Ridiculously flimsy wing joint mechanisms completed.
Cockpit detailed with silver gel pen and black permanent marker.
Rear wheel assembly built.
Undercarriage detail added.
All I can manage for now - dead on my feet, so hope to make an early start in the morning.
Cheers
Al.

Re: Today - Beany's Buccaneer - well, actually it's a Corsai
09:00 ...and we're back in the room.
I got up about 04:30 in a panic and glued some parts together to give me a better starting point in the morning - I basically completed the wing assembly and closed the fuselage halves.
However, on resuming this morning one of the outer wings fell off - they are literally held in place by a 4mm square butt jointed hinge. I therefore decided to superglue this wing in place due to the time constrains. In doing so I remembered having exactly the same problem when I built this kit as a teenager. I wish I had done it with the other side now as the gap the hinge mechanism leave is almost unbearable.
I also glued the engine in place, but due the the amount of warping in the plastic that I wasn't aware of until I progressed with the build, there is very little purchase so it feels like the engine could drop off at any moment.
Here is where I am at as I resume my Blitz momentarily:
As can be seen - a lot will be hidden by touched up paintwork hopefully!

Great progress especially with the 04.30 addition!
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

10:30 Update
Superglue has turned out to be my saviour with this build. I couldn't cope with the flappy wing that still had the working hinge joint so it is now permanently glued like the other side. The gaps it has left below are huge, but these will have to be filled after the Blitzbau - I shall be careful not to photograph the underside!
Loads of filler was required for the cavernous gap between the wings and the fuselage, again due to the age of the kit and warping.
Stabilizer wings were both superglued in place.
Next job is to mask up the canopy with Tamiya tape, fix it in place and then start spraying the main colours.
Cheers
Al.
P.S. I had a coffee and some porridge, banana and Acacia honey for breakfast but I didn't photograph it!!
Also, no music today yet as the wife is still in bed next door.

Wow - that went together while I slept. Nice work on cockpit and engine.
Good tip in superglue. I've often wondered why it's not the glue of choice for blitzes.

Thanks for your support David.
11:30 Update
A couple of detail shots of the engine - obviously a rush job but I think it will do.
Out with the airbrush - XF24 Dark Grey first. I'm not being to particular about the colours, so the nearest Tamiya I have that looks right will have to do.
Oh, and Johnny Pilot got his harnesses painted but again, scruffy I know but that's as much precision as I can manage in a Blitzbau.
A quick break for a coffee and clean the airbrush then Round Two with XF-64 German (Slate) Grey camouflage.

Is it me or does your pilot look worried
This is really impressive blitz work.

12:38 Last update before "Times Up"
I can't see me finishing on time but will carry on anyway - too close now to give in.
In the last hours I have airbrushed all three camouflage colours - a first for me. Normally I'm terrified of airbrushing and revert to hairy sticks but this Blitz has been quite liberating in that regard. Camo is obviously freehand but again will have to do.
Last rush now to throw on the decals like my 10 year old self would have done - no gloss undercoat, no Micro Set or Micro Sol (outrageous - I feel a disturbance in the force somewhere). I love Blitzs for this very reason - all your usual practices go out of the window..

13:38 - Time Is Up - Close, but no vape!
I was kidding myself about the Microsol - the decals were great in that they are very thick and so didn't dissolve in the water, but then they started to curl up on the airplane, have initially looked like they were behaving well.
So, I have well and truly bust on the time - too many time outs to watch rugby and eat food and such
I will take my time on the rest of the job, sticking on undercarriage doors, adding filler and touching up paint, and applying the roundels underneath.
Final pics before time up...
Thanks for watching.

A great effort, Al and what you have managed certainly looks impressive enough!

Impressive build
