Great work so far and looking forward to seeing it in that scheme

It would be boring if we all built the Revell kit.

I am away from home on hols for the next week or so, but I brought some model work with me, and am happy to report that I have fitted a spare cockpit tub in the Plastyk Hunter, after much hacking. Can't do photos from here; will catch up later.

Catch-up photos:

'Foreign' cockpit tub inserted and fitted. I have decided to use the Airfix canopy which requires the Plastyk cockpit aperture to be extended rearwards. The Plastyk canopy has a 90-degrees vertical windscreen frame.



And here is the nosewheel well scratchbuilt.



Hopefully I can make some better progress now that I am back home (but not rested! I need a rest!)

Glad you had good holiday. Nice job on the cockpit. The nose of that ZTS mould looks a bit bulbous.

Yes, the middle section of the nose will require some delicate slimming.

Good grief! I have finally joined the fuselage fore and aft ends and filed them into submission, then I find that the wing slats are far too long, and the panel lines on each wing (apart from spurious ones) do not match!



You can see one wing slat shortened, various panel line corrections in progress, the nose has been slimmed, and I have tried to improve the cannon blast troughs. Not much scope there.
I bet the pylon positioning is wrong too!

Aaarrgh! Avoid the Plastyk kit like the plague!

Curiosity killed the modeller's mojo. I admire your effort but I'll be staying far away from this and it's Javelin stable mate.

Oh dear. One of those things that seemed a great idea. The Afx rear fuselage is a massive improvement and the nose contours look much better. Pity the wings are so problematic but I'm glad you're still plugging away at it.

Right! I am ready to affix the wings to the fuselage and tackle some more joins! I will reinforce the join with paperclip dowels and superglue.



Here you can see the extent of the panel line corrections, and yes, I was correct, the inner pylons, at least were positioned wrongly. Also the gun ports were all too high on the fuselage. The aircraft I am modelling had the ports covered, so I have simply filled them in. I may try to represent the covers with thin styrene card or just a different shade of paint.
