Having a go at the Revell 1/72 Hunter F.6. Box long gone as I hate Revell's letter box style and transfer them into shoe boxes ( fortunately Mrs Kit has a shoe and boot stash to rival my kit stash )

Anyway obligatory shots. As stated on the GB thread a bit of paint was applied while still on the sprues but this will be painted over again







Planning on using one of the options from Modeldecal sheet 86

Black and light grey dry brush on cockpit. Also liquid steel in nose for ballast. Painting started on a Quickboost seat too, kit seat is very good but this has the edge

Parts for rear fuselage with a coat of Vallejo Dark Aluminium. Very visible ejector mark but will be hidden when assembled



Now wondering what to do about intakes as they are open to the complete inner wing. Leave as is or try some trunking?

A certain Mr Bradley improved his intakes by lining them with putty when he converted his to a 2 seater. You could always just make intake covers.

Thanks for the ideas shangos70. Decided to try this method. First trimmed a piece of paper to fit



Ended up this shape so now I have a blank



Opened up a beer can (after first draining it in a pleasurable fashion), copied the blank onto it and cut out (remembering to reverse for the opposite wing )



Bent to shape and Cyano'd into position



Bit of trimming after and trunking done. Lot easier than I thought.

The 1/144 scale kit oddly has some rudimentary trunking. The metal works well and avoids the issue of splitting that can occur with thin plastic card.

Very nice trunking! Mine was not as sophisticated, but I made extras for my other Revell Hunters!

Nicely done David, very effective.

Started on the wings now. Leading edge extensions and wingtips added.



Doesn't look so good on the underside though, parts are way too thick, but not unexpected as it is well documented as an issue with this kit.



A session of sanding and rescribing next

Checking the Sabrinas (oh I wish ) the two pair of little nubbinz have got to go. They are meant to represent the empty shell case chutes but should be tubes mounted above the Sabrinas.
