Re: David's Mbox with Aeroclub fighter nose correction
Wow! Great progress, David.
You have caught up with the early starters.
Nice work on the intakes and the cockpit.
Cheers,
David

Great work. This is going to look more than a bit special.

Re: David's Mbox with Aeroclub fighter nose correction
Oops. I should have known this was going too well.
I mentioned earlier that the Mbox design of wings to fuselage joint was a good one as it set the wing anhedral. Unfortunately, it seems to set it with way too much anhedral.
I am busy detaching the lower edge and shimming now but it will make the lower wing joints very messy.

Re: David's Mbox with Aeroclub fighter nose correction
The cement has now set on the re-angled wings and the anhedral is as good as it will get. It still looks too much from some angles because the bottom of the wing roots is too low on the fuselage or, put another way, there's too little fuselage below the wings. Paul B has mentioned this in an old post. I can't work out where Mbox got it wrong: is the root area around intakes too deep, wings too low on fuselage, etc, etc but it isn't right. However, it's not correctable IMHO.
In this pic you can see the shimmed lower wing / fuselage joins which have now been filled and are drying but I noticed a couple of oddities. The rear fuselage taper is off - like there's an indent at each side. Also, despite checking carefully against plans and thinking they were good, now they're on, the wingtips look odd. I think I will just adjust those to look right according to the Mark 1 eyeball.

Re: David's Mbox with Aeroclub fighter nose correction
I think I know why the wing anhedral etc was problematic. I think the Mbox intakes and the bulged areas of the wing roots that are over the intake trunking are too deep. Anyway, the anhedral looks about right to me from most angles:
I have also finished PS (R about to start) on the wing/fuselage joints which were not as good as I expected them to be based on test fitting. I have also adjusted the starboard wingtip but I'm not sure you can see the difference in the pic.
The Mbox wing chord seems about 1mm too big and it makes the wing look big and spoils the Hunter's gracefulness. I can't fix that but it's making me think that I should not bother with the remaining Mbox Hunters in the stash. We'll see how this looks when done.

Re: David's Mbox with Aeroclub fighter nose correction
Not worth a pic tonight. I have just brushed some primer on the wing/fuselage joints and it will no doubt reveal a few minor defects when I look tomorrow but I think I am done PSR on them.
Next will be to trim port wingtip same as I did the starboard today, install closed undercarriage doors and tailplanes then prime whole thing properly.

Nice work on the intake trunking. The wing anhedral looks a lot better than it did before.

Thanks, Tim.
This slowed a bit as I fired up the RAF 100 Years GB entry but I have added some details and she is now primed.
I hope those of you suffering from what the BBC keeps calling 'The Beast from the East', appreciate the strenuous effort I made to go outside to take the pics in natural light.

Hell of a lot of working going into this David, I admire your dedication. I've 2 Matchbox ones in the pile but I can't see myself matching anything near your level of corrective work.

Thanks.
No pic as I don't know how to upload from my phone.
Some colour on her now :the DSG was airbrushed but the green went on with a brush as once again I could not get blue tac sausage masking to stick.
