Boston MA or New York, any suggestion?

Recommendations of all those increasingly rare LMS's in a town near you, so the rest of us can find them and marvel! Also, the places near you where blokes approach you, furtively clutching the latest SAMI and smelling of resin.

Boston MA or New York, any suggestion?

Post by diamant »

Hi

I will attend a course in Boston MA next September and I wonder if any of you could point me out if there is any model shop there. I will also stay 3 day in New York so this could also be an oportunity to buy some models kit.

I know that this could be difficult but I am looking for second hand kits which are less expensive for us (I live in Argentina).

Any piece of advice will be most that welcome.

Kind regards
Santiago

While I am not in that area, may I suggest you see if there are any model shows going on while you are there? They are always a good source of second hand kits! Check out the IPMS/USA website, which has a listing of shows.

The hobby shops in New York City have pretty much dried up. The survivors are Red Caboose, 23 West 45th Street, and Jan's Hobby Shop, Lexington between 93rd and 94th. Jan's is likely far out of your way, but it has more second-hand stuff. Red Caboose has to pay midtown rent so you may find them expensive. I buy supplies there, but ebay is cheaper for kits, even with postage.

Good hunting!

For the Boston area, Spare Time Hobbies is the place to go, not sure of their stock of second hand kits, but they are well stocked with kits and supplies.

Hi guys,

Many thanks for your suggestions.

I have already downloaded the list of shops from IPMS USA

Thanks August, I will take your comments in mind about the NY model shops.

Thanks Ernie, I will contact them.

Cheers
