Canadian Aviation Museum Shop, Ottawa

Recommendations of all those increasingly rare LMS's in a town near you, so the rest of us can find them and marvel! Also, the places near you where blokes approach you, furtively clutching the latest SAMI and smelling of resin.

Canadian Aviation Museum Shop, Ottawa

Post by AndrewR »

The "Boutique" has moved into a new space near the main entrance, and the model section has been upgraded from "Ho hum" to "Absolutely Marvellous". For aircraft (well, it is the Aviation Museum), they now have the biggest selection in Ottawa. Tamiya, Italeri, Revell (both versions), Academy, and Minicraft are all there in abundance. The glaring omission, naturally, is Airfix.

Prices seem reasonable for most items, although Italeri seem to be pricing themselves out of the Canadian market a bit - even the Tamiya kits are more reasonably priced, in this and other model shops.

Now, if the shop would just stock up on some Airfix Spitfires :ha:

Cheers

Precious few over in Canada, unfortunately Paul!
I may have to order from Squadron in the US. Their postal rates are reasonable.

Don't think you will find them at Squadron either, Andrew. Or Airfix-USA. Picked up a 72 Spit Mk V from Squadron and it was back ordered two months. Finally showed up a couple of days ago.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Airfix-USA won't ship to Canada at all!

Fortunately, I'm not in a hurry for the kits. 8-)
