Thanks again to the Admin Team for allowing me to post.
KitBase (database for scale modellers) has now been available for two years. In that time I've had a lot of feedback resulting in significant new chunks of functionality (all of these made available for free to owners of KitBase).
More functionality is still on its way over the coming months.
I thought it might be interesting for people to see the way KitBase has evolved over the last couple of years:

Thanks to everyone who has supported KitBase and provided me with feedback.
KitBase now has a FaceBook page if you would like to leave comments or 'Like' it: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Suisoft-K ... 3404899519;
Please feel free to pass this information on to fellow modellers.

Gary
Could I suggest that you just use the one thread for Kitbase - it would make it easier to follow and track comments...?

The context just gets a bit messy after a while.SJPONeill wrote:Could I suggest that you just use the one thread for Kitbase - it would make it easier to follow and track comments...?
Each thread I post is usually a different subject, e.g. a particular new release or article.
Gary.

Re: Evolution of KitBase
Perhaps but if you look at the sub-forum in which you are posting, it is really one thread per product...

I see what you mean. Perhaps another thread might be more suitable for news and articles...SJPONeill wrote:one thread per product...
I think I was pointed to the On-Line References and Resources area, as it was the best fit (it was a while ago when I asked about posting).
I'm open to suggestions.
Cheers,
Gary

Re: Evolution of KitBase
I don't know about others but I use the 'view active topics' link at the top of the page as my default view of the forum: it's shows the latest threads and posts from latest to last...I just open the threads that are of interest to me as I see them so every time you make a post or add a thread, it will be at the top of the list until the new one - the forum isn't so busy that the list turns over too quickly...
So if you had one thread on Kitbase or seventeen, each appears at the top of the list each time someone added a post so I don't think there would be much problem for members being aware of new posts in the Kitbase threads; members can also subscribe to certain threads be advised when there are new posts...
The problem I think with multiple threads on a very niche topic like Kitbase is that for both readers and developers it become difficult to track comments...hence if it was all in one thread (for now anyway) it would be easier for both unoffocial reviewers/testers like me, developers like you and anyone new to the subject to track progress and ideas...?
Just my two cents...

Re: Evolution of KitBase
I'll give it some thought. (You've gone and made me think now!)
I'm still swaying towards separate posts to keep the comments specific to the version released or article. The suggestions I've received are scattered across various forums and emails. I log them in a features/issues database that I have on my development machine.
I've toyed with exposing the full list of future features on the website, but it would take quite a while to tidy up for public consumption and I haven't always decided which suggestions are going into each version.
Cheers,
Gary
