CBK SIG at Farnborough ModelFest Sat. 24th September 2016??

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

Chris, Beany,

Here's most of what I'm planning to bring on Saturday, if that's OK.

Still working on a safe transportation plan, but I reckon I'll need to bring the superglue anyway.

Unfortunately all are WWII aircraft, but there you go.

That lot looks jolly good. As for transporting - from what I see above it looks like you already have them on polystyrene - so cocktail sticks to hold them is good, then you can try and get some trays from the greengrocers or fresh fruit and veg dept in Tesco etc that lettuce, bananas, cucumbers or any fruit/veg come in - they stack as have good corners, and are generally just the bottom of box and you then just need some other wadge around the edges in the box to stop the polystyrene sheets shifting around -; As for another option - option 2 - the dearer option is a trip to hobbycraft for those "clever very useful box" company boxes that stack and have clips in the corners (I tend to buy them when I see them in different places on special offer - and add a couple to my model portfolio each year as they can add up buying them

They look superb mate - I reckon they'll all fit in a couple of Sainsbury's carrier bags - unless you are going to get all "precious" about them... :ha: :ha:

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday Martin, take care. ;-)

I'm leaving Derby about 6am aiming to be there for between 8.30 and 9.0 - so no point in you getting there before me as I'll have the table cloths to put down before any models can be laid out.

Thanks Iggie and everyone else. I have now got a camera packed and it looks to have a full battery (well all 3 dashes are lit up on the battery thing)

As for models - for this SIG: I am giving that nice olde Airfix fire engine Splash built an outing, and to keep it company have packed both of the Airfix WW1 buses I made.

Then I have a couple of boxes with 3-masted sailing ships for the blue corner! See how they travel as I am trialling something different with packing these. (One of the ships, the Connie, I have two built of it here at home, so if one fails in travelling there this trip I do have a heir and spare for Telford for the Revell table.

Back home now from a splendid day out at Farnborough yet again, in the company of Al, Tom and Martin from this SIG, and also with many other reprobates we know from other clubs and SIGs who also frequent this and many other forums. (Al or Tom will be along with any naming and shaming later)

This is my first time as "show photographer" so the best of the mess I took follow. We had three tables in all, which were divided between CBK and Revell, and between 4 of us, we nicely filled up the CBK space, and had additional help for the Revell space.

First off the CBK models.

I will get another base and make another cobbled strip to put the fire engine on again for its next outing. I took it off today to put both buses on them.

Next the Revell space:

So all in all a pleasant day; and looking forward to seeing the 3 of you again in 6 weeks time in Telford.
