CBK at Huddersfield 2017

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

CBK at Huddersfield 2017

Post by JamesPerrin »

Calling all CBKers!

CBK SIG has been confirmed two tables ~ 4'x6' at Huddersfield Show 2017( February 12, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm GMT ).

I don't believe we have enough of the the "500 years of the Royal Navy" display to fill the table, so you are invited to bring a few of your own models for display.

* They must of course be CBKs
* Preferably something that has not been displayed before
* You are attending for the whole day
* Spend some time behind the table talking to punters (yacking in front with mates does not count ;-) )

If you have several kits to display then I have 1 to 2 wrist available to allow access during the set period from 9-10.30am ( for regulars not that the later start times allows traders to get in first from 8-9am )

Please respond here or contact me directly.

Hope a few of you can make the event. It would be a rather long way for me too.

Has anyone who attended anything to say? I am sure I am not the only one wondering: How did the show go? What was on display and from whom? Were there good bargains to be had?

Patience please. Like most people I was too knackered afterwards and needed to spend time with my family. I've been at work all day and I've prioritized some actual modelling this evening. I've not even unpacked yet. I've just sat down at the PC to post some pictures instead of heading to bed.

Most people seemed to be buying rather than looking at the displays, it was pretty quiet in the afternoon. Matt's large figures drew the attention of the general public. However we all had a good natter and it good to meet up with friends, we all did well from under the table purchases.

Excellent, thanks for taking the time to post the pics James. I've always enjoyed this show and the new venue (used for the first time last year) is a big improvement IMHO, better internal lights (no more yellow hue and that headache inducing flickering of the old place), much better car parking (for instance opposite the sports centre it's free 'till 12 noon on Sundays and then £1.00 until 6.00 pm) and nicer, newer, facilities generally. I really don't like to complain as I appreciate the amount of work that goes into arranging a show like this, but I was less keen on the way our tables were arranged as space was a bit tight with our neighbours and the double depth of the tables seemed to put us back from people looking at the models and wishing to discuss them but, that said, I agree with James that most folk seemed to be on a shopping trip. Anyway, it was good to meet up with the crew and this is a great one dayer that I will continue to support.

I see your little Blackbird scored in the comp too James, well done!

As you can see we were in the middle of a car park.

Contributions from ShaunW, Shangos, ejsnotgrass, Daz, splash, Barry, PaulBradley and MattBacon. M any thanks to those that manned the table whilst we took turns to just check there wasn't something we wanted that we had missed lurking at the bottom of a box under a table somewhere.

Shaun's F-111 flaps and slats are amazing and I did suggest he place it back-to-front to show them off!

Well done to all, and a nice varied display and range of models on show. Not that I know what they all are, but the sports and racing cars stand out and look really good, whoever made them? Thanks for the photos James.

Just takes the shine off your day, when you hear of traders and individuals (with an under table box) getting items stolen.
