Shropshire (Cosford) Cosford Model Show

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

Shropshire (Cosford) Cosford Model Show

Post by JamesPerrin »

At Telford we got invited to attend this years Shropshire Model Show on Sunday 1st April, which is held at the RAF Museum Cosford. After working out the logistics and getting hold of the paperwork we have now been confirmed for 4 tables. Note due to the location these are likely to be arranged single depth. Beany is our point man. I hope to make it myself but we'd like to have a couple more members to help out. Please let us know if you can make it. This is well attended show and a great additional excuse to visit the museum.

It's the Box Art Display (doing a lap of honour), Alan is taking them home after Huddersfield.

I think they'd be more interested in the models than our ugly mugs

Speak for yourself sunshine... :ha:

Whilst Cosford will see the end of the show circuit for the 2011 CBK SIG display, there was also the interest shown by Daryl at Airfix to take some of the display back to Margate with him/them after the SMW2012 show at Telford for display in the Hornby Exhibition Centre, and by then we will of course be showing Classic Box Art 2, which Daryl may like enough to take some of those back for display at the Exhibition Centre in 2013?!!

As James has requested, any help manning the table will be greatly appreciated. My wife always accompanies me to this show (it really is one of the best IMHO - situated amongst all of that inspiring hardware), but if I ask her to help on the table it will cost me big time!

cheers
Al.

The 'info' pack has arrived and we've got a table in t Hanger 2 ( home of the TSR2). We are tucked between the Prone Meteor and Fairey Delta II. From the map it looks as though we have have a 2x2 table arrangement which is a relief.

Thats good to hear James, I've managed to get the time off so Al won't be manning the display by his lonesome.

And Live from Cosford!!

Beany and Tom have done an excellent job of getting some very tricky displays without instructions. They've gone off for a well deserved brew while I man the shop.

Good to see Tom rehearsing for November!
Is it me, or do Tom and Al share certain...erm...physical characteristics?

Classic Box Art looks as good there at Cosford as it did at Telford...with CBA2 planned for this year, and possibly remaining a theme for builds post-SMW12, I'm wondering if we might not think about capturing them all as hi-res images with the thought of, in a couple of years, producing another book like the Maurice Landi one? IMHO, this work is simply too good not to record for posterity.
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...
