Ted Taylor

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

Ted Taylor

Sad news from Ted -- a long-time "friend of CBKs" -- over at Britmodeller . He's been diagnosed with kidney failure, and his doctors have given him a few months to live. I'm sure many of you will remember meeting him at the "PK-2008" Matchbox display, and of course it was Ted who took the "Maurice Landi" tribute book that we all created together to Maurice's family.

Perhaps it would be appropriate for the next Matchbox Group Build to be a Ted Taylor tribute...

Sad news indeed. I only met him briefly on the Final Touch stand and purchased some nose weights from him, which I'm still using. One of the few modellers I was aware of before joining the internet community.

Very sad news - I have followed Ted's builds from the good old days of SMI in the 80s and on into the internet in 90s and 21C...along with Alan Hall, I would consider him one of my key inspirations for modelling (he likes big stuff too!!)

That is a really sad piece of news.
Agree 100% with the GB tribute. Good call, Matt.
I'm a mostly full-time modeller put a part-time poster....

Never met him personally but always remember the series of ads he did for Matchbox. I seem to remember his builds featured in their Heyford and Privateer ads.
