CBK/USA At Omaha - August 2011?

What makes a British kit a Classic? What Classic kit is really British? What is the SIG all about and what goes on...from initial musings, to full on campaigning. It'll all be here, interspersed with talk of Texan Bars, Alias Smith & Jones and The Flashing Blade, Footy Cards and Bath Night, before School.

CBK/USA At Omaha - August 2011?

Post by PaulBradley »

CBK/USA at Omaha ???

JRatz said:
I'll be there and driving so I can bring some stuff ...

Do we want to talk about a theme or just agree to talk about who's going to show up with what ?

Paul Bradley replied:
Great question, John. I think a suggestion was that we do CBKs with an American theme - either US produced or US markings. It sounds like a good idea to me.

Not yet sure what we are doing next summer and I may or may not be there.....

Airjim replied:
Yea that was my suggestion a few years ago...the American side of CBKs. (Personally, I'd push for the North American side of CBKS, but I'm trouble that way.) So any CBK of a subject built in (North) America or in (North) American markings.

That being said, I have no idea at this time if I will be there or not. I want to go, but it will depend on if Heather's treatment is over or not.

RonB replied:
I'm supposed to be there and I'll bring a few things.

JRatz replied:
I'll bring my Spin-A-prop Superfreighter, regardless of theme.

The (North) American is fine, although not in my build plan for the year so I'll see what I can change out. This was to be a year for CBK trains, cars, and figures. Not that any build plans survive past day 2 or 3 ....

philP replied:
I have the Banshee and an Airfix F-80 that are done but probably won't make it next year, especially if we are going to try and get the family to Disney World in 2012.

But, if someone is heading there and can make a stop in SLC, they can take them on.

JRatz replied:
OK, I've got my target list -- starting from the top:

Kitmaster #3 The General
Matchbox PK-451 Packard Victoria
Airfix 1910 Ford T
Airfix 1912 Ford T
F6F - 1 each Airfix,Frog,Matchbox
P47D - 1 each Airfix,Frog,Matchbox

'Sokay, John - me neither! :oops: Good job I already have 6-7 models I can bring.

However, the good news is that I will be in Omaha - in fact, it'll be part of a family vacation to KC and Omaha. :-D

I'll be bringing whatever I can fit under an airliner seat! I know someone who checks his models and they go in the cargo area and he's never had one broken! Mine would be in pieces.

Which letters ?

CBK = Classic British Kits
SIG = Special Interest Group

Omaha...

Right now with so many things up in the air, I'm not sure. But I'm optimistic.

Only way I could make it would be to bunk with somebody and get a ride. However, the 2 kits mentioned in the first post are done and available if any of you come up I-15 or over on I-80.
