The position of the Hudson looks just right to me Tom, but it's up to you mate. It's looking bloody brilliant so far - I'm interested to see what method you're going to use for the water and waves (I know what I'd do but I suspect people are fed up with me harping on about it!).

Really looking forward to seeing it (and your good self of course) in the flesh at Telford.

Keep it coming mate.
Al.

Thanks very much you guys, to say that this sort of modelling is out of my comfort zone would be an understatement  still it is proving to be an enjoyable experience in problem solving and creativity

I was generally happy with the Hudson's position in the last shots but I ideally wanted it a little lower and further forward in the piece, plus the concern that James raised over the strength of the supports was something that I wanted to try and solve.

So I've spent the rest of this cold and misty day playing aroung with drill bits and lengths of metal rod and I think I've finally cracked it:

Tomorrow will see the creation of those rolling waves and that third major piece in the composition; the towering watersplash. From there its small details and printing out a backing card and a naming label.

Regards
Tom

Big step forward today:

Image

and in this you can see the beginning of the watersplash:

Image

Im planning on building a wire armature in the morning, around this i'll build up the filler and hopefully it will look like a towering column of white water.

Plus I've sorted the leading edges on the Hudson, started painting the props, applied the first Klear coat and painted the aileron and elevator recesses in airframe green. Not strictly accurate I know  but it'll look better than camo (I think....):

Still lots to do but the biggest stages are behind me.

Regards
Tom

Thanks Jim  you are correct of course in spotting the gargantuan quantities of filler. Seems to be a recurring theme with this piece  the Hudson consumed a quarter of a tube of filler and the base now weighs approx 5kg  I am not looking forward to carrying this into the International centre in less than two weeks time.

Still im on the home stretch now :-D

Yesterday:

And this afternoon:

Maybe one or two more gentle brushings with pure white and I'll stop to avoid ruining it :ha:

The Hudson has the majority of the decals in place, props painted and the glazing finished bar the canopy that I will be doing this evening:

More soon

Regards
Tom

Yuk Yuk, Gosh Durnit, we got us a gen-uine, boney fide modeller here Billy Bob...

The water looks absolutely brilliant Tom, smashing work mate - there is almost a graphic-novel artwork type quality to it.

I can't wait to see it in the flesh!

cheers
Al.

That looks great, Tom! I think that you're right that the watersplash at any rate could maybe use another go with the white drybrush... and if you call when you're inbound, I'll give you a hand getting your concrete slab into the display hall!

bestest,
M.

Super work Tom, it's certainly capturing the essence of the box art. Brilliant.

Cheers
Jim
