This is a great looking project. You did an amazing job on the base. Can't wait to see more of this one.

Thank you for all of the encouragement guys.

Now, after looking at some pics of the SRN4s on Google Images I realised the kit is supplied with the skirts "inflated" for want of a better word, so I decided some drastic surgery was needed. It was neither an easy or a pretty job, but suffice to say, after filler is applied to the gaps that are now apparent, the hovercraft will sit a lot lower to the ground (so the departing cars will not have to come down the ramp at 45 degrees!!)

Looks great, Al. I should think an N gauge building of some sort would fit the bill.

Rushed to finish this - the build of the Hovercraft was atrocious - the poorest fitting kit I have ever built I think. Close up photos show up all the blemishes and paintwork that isn't finished - but I'm hoping most people will just glance from a distance. At least I had fun doing the baseboard and the little people to try to bring the scene to life.

I travelled to Calais on one in 1978 and my stomach still hasn't settled down yet!

Looks good to me ... of course I'm an ocean away

Seriously, I think the water coming up onto the ramp and against the dock is just wonderfully done !!!

Don't know about poor fit or blemishes but the model looked mightily impressive when I saw it today. Even Mrs Dazzled commented on it.

I've never travelled on one but, late in it's career, I was pretty close when one "took off" at Dover. It was amazingly graceful for such a large machine.

Absolutely superb and a total inspiration to my own dual SRN4 diarama that I am presently building -this is on the forum in the ships and boats modelling section now
