I think mating out the blades it s good idea. Next stop is Jagewa's prop blur tutorial:

SJPONeill wrote:I was watching a CH-46 at Quantico yesterday and the individual blades were very hard to see...you are probably on the right track with subtly shaded disks to depict the helo as it would be seen by the naked eye as opposed to the image captured by a camera...
Thanks for that - I've never seen this type in flight.
Funnily enough two helicopters flew over my house yesterday.
The first was an Arctic Tiger striped Sea King - with highly visible rotor blades.
The next a EC135 - where blades were not visible.

I think I will have to study Jagewa's tutorial.

Airbrushing again yesterday - I painted blurred blades:

If the disk is put on downside up - the effect is like this:

Can anybody suggest where to look for a 18inch square piece of expanded polystyrene for a base? I've tried most hobby outlets, and nothing - it appears to be just used for packaging now.

My B&Q told me that there was no longer a demand for such items...although an adjacent HomeBase had a good supply.

That matches what I found at B&Q - which is on my way to work.
I'll try Homebase - which is a bit further , but near to my Archery club.

Thanks

Any place that sells whiteware...our last fridge was encased in sheets of the stuff...our last telly too when I think about it...also if you are near any place that does fibreglassing, they often have sheets of it...

Getting there!
Image
Prepare the ground and build a tent and position survivors just in front of the Vertol's nose.

This is how it pans out without the rotors.
Image
I am having serious thoughts about the rotors. I might redo them with just matt varnish - to avoid reflections.

Super stuff - strange that the artwork shows a Lansen instead of a Draken - secret Heller artist perhaps!

I wonder if the it would look better with just the blurred blade rather than the whole discs. OF course that means cutting up the discs  and the blades might be a bit floppy on their own

I'm still here, delayed by a significant archery event - that I'll tell you about in the next few weeks.

Well I've passed my Archery assessment - and am now a qualified Level 1 Coach.

A bit more work on my boxart project.
Skidmarks along the ice, and a tent.
Fixed the Lansen canopy open, and installed seatbelts.

This is with the Vertol
Image
I'm toying with the idea of using the kit rotor-hubs - with blurred blades made from a Pepsi bottle.
