LDM (Lawrence Design and Models)

Post by JamesPerrin »

LDM produced white metal car and later aircraft kits in the 70's early 80's. Which qualifies them as a CBK manufacturer. I had found an ads in an 1978 and 1984 edition of SAM. A little bit more digging around the internet and I got the following kit list and some pictures of built examples which look very nice.

Was it Warlington, Surrey or Warlingham, Surrey?

I only ask because I am fairly familiar with the county of Surrey (being that I am nearby here in South London) but I am not familiar with Warlington.

Edit: Sorry, just checked, it was actually Warlingham, a village in the Tandridge district of East Surrey.

Very interesting James. I imagine that these would have carried quite a bit of weight in white metal and what a pity that the original masters were melted down as scrap! Positively vandalism!

Just think what a resin manufacturer could do with those nowadays.
