Two days ago I received an e-mail from a gentleman by the name of Derek who I spoke to at Telford this past year. To save paraphrasing I'll repeat his e-mail here:

Hi Tom

I believe we spoke at IPMS Telford in November.

Living were I do, right next to the Milford Haven waterway I
volunteer at the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust. This coming year will
be the 70 anniversery of mid 1943, turning point of the Battle of the
Atlantic. There are plans to record this event not only down here but
at other locations around the UK. As Pembroke Dock was the worlds
largest Sea Plane depot, mainly Sunderlands but also Catalinas,
Swordfish, Walrus and others, plus there were numerous other
interesting locations in Pembrokeshire not the least a number of
airfields flying many Coastal Command types.

As this may be of interest to members of Coastal Command SIG would you
like to be kept informed of the events as they become firm. Although
Pembrokeshire might seem a long way away, we do boast some beautifull
countryside and many blue flag beaches to keep other members of the
family happy.

Yours

Derek Church

I have replied in the affirmative as regards further information as it becomes available with the possibility of trying to organise a CC SiG outing to one of them for UK based members. Just an idea obviously so what do you think?

Regards

Tom

Been down to that museum, and they are a very friendly bunch. Their long term ambition is to raise a sunken Sunderland off the harbour bed.

Any chance they'd like to be a home to retired display models?

I'll find out Paul, I could see it being a rather useful collaboration.
