I assume kit bashing is allowed - Say a mk.XIX and mk.22 Spitfire combined to make a mk.21?

Cheers

Oh, yes, it is indeed allowed!

I've also been flicking through my old Airfix Magazine books - the old hardback little ones - The modelling WWII fighters book has some interesting conversion projects - quite fancy doing a PR Hurricane from the old tool kit.

I am a tentative, based on when scheduled and what's going on in my world.
I am looking at a ship project; I have all I need but time.

HAWKER Hind, not the Russian helo, before anyone says "Good trick if you can do it!" or some such!
I can't see why not at the moment. What are the changes you'd need to make?

As far as I can see from a quick comparison of plans, it would involve doing away with the Demons 'Mile of pipe' exhaust and replacing it with something similar to the prototype Spit, some adjusting of a couple of panel lines and replacing the tailskid with a wheel.......and the markings.

And changing the rear cockpit angle. Definitely a conversion.

I'd definitely be up for having a crack at a conversion or two providing we are looking at next year for a timeframe. I'm thinking of doing a Buccaneer S.Mk.1 from the Airfix kit or maybe a Firefly two seat trainer from the FROG kit.

Oh yes please. I have a few ideas but the one that has been at the back of my mind for years is backdating a Ju-88A4 into an Battle of Britain Ju-88A1. I think Aeroclub used to do a set that helps but still some major surgery would be involved.

Among other plots and schemes I have; for quite a while now had a Co-operativa Fairey Swordfish in the stash. It's basically the old Frog/Novo kit with a little etched brass and some resin bits to make a black sub-hunter based in Knokke Heist, Belgium in 1945. I was thinking of transferring these resin bits and the very good decals to a new mould Airfix Stringbag. I even took some reference pics in Duxford a couple of weeks ago.

"One thing into another" GB - when?

Post by Martin R »

Hi folks,

Poll to decide when we run the Conversion GB AKA "One Thing Into Another" - any scale, any genre, any subject, but must not be the "variant", "version" or "person" provided in the box. Open to scratch-building, AM conversion sets, decals, etc.

eg. Airfix Spitfire Mk IX into a Mk XI, Do 335 A-6 into a B, Luftwaffe groundcrew into Mick Jagger, that sort of thing. While not mandating advanced plastic hacking, some degree of modification / challenge would be considered required. Please contact yours truly if you have any questions.

I have gone for next year for all options due to general feedback on the chat thread. Poll active for 7 days, so please cast your votes as appropriate. 1 option each, but you can change your vote as things move along.

regards,

Martin

I've voted for January as a preference, but I'll make time for this one whenever it is :-D
