I'm still in, with caveat that April might be a bit scarce for me.

I have no specific selections yet, I knocked out a couple choices because of the discussions we had. I do know that my RAF reading program (those 3 books) took a hit when I decided to revisit 1750-1790. I may have to revert to just skimming through them for ideas.

I think I'll have to do one RRAC from the RAF Regiment, then let the Middle East 'tween wars be my theme.

Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to go back through the posts and extract all the rulings you made as questions came up. That will help get everyone's mind back in the game.

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

No problems John, start when you can - we have plenty of time.

Good idea, I had thought something similar myself – If I type it up here I can just copy it into the chat thread when you open the GB.

‘100 years of the RAF’ GB.

This is a GB intended to pay tribute to the world’s first independent air force, and its 100 years of loyal service since its creation on the 1st April 2018. The GB is open to any subject of any scale, be it land, sea, air of figure, as long as it was part of the RAF’s history in some way - so no ‘what-if’ and no Spitfires (kidding – had you there).

There are however some rules/guidelines that came up over the course of the discussion.

WWI aircraft: No RFC or RNAS (these proud services are worthy of a GB in their own right), I’m happy to go a bit easy on the markings (I’m sure they didn’t change much anyway) but it HAS to be a type that was in service when the RAF was born in April 1918.

FAA: As John rightly pointed out, the RAF was in control of the FAA in the interwar period. So for that reason any FAA subject can be included – just so long as it can be more linked to the RAF rather than the Royal Navy. I think we might have to consider this on a case by case basis but I would imagine the person submitting the build would know more than I.

Research Aircraft: There are allowed as long as the aircraft was built to an RAF Specification and carried RAF markings and registration number. No paper aircraft (and no service what-ifs).
Foreign service: Again a case by case basis, but I’m happy to include foreign service builds if it can be linked to the RAF in a major way. E.g. An RAF pilot flying a USAF jet is out, but an Oman air force Strikemaster that was largely flown by serving RAF pilots is in.

And that should be it. The GB runs from the 1st April to the end of June, I’ll be your happy GBL assisted by ShaunW if he’s still up for it.

Cheers

Stuart
