Edgar frequented the Key Publishing Forum quite a bit, so I knew of him through that.

Definitely a good idea to honour him in this GB.

I think that's a great idea Paul - and what greater tribute to a man that loved the Spitfire than a GB that intends to build every mark.

I will get things renamed shortly and carry the "every mark" as a subtitle where possible.

That is sad news and this GB will be a fitting tribute. He was a good guy and always willing to share his knowledge.

I have recently been researching the Supermarine Speed Spitfire N.17 (K9834), a Spitfire Mk I modified for an attempt on the world air speed record in 1938. Would this fit into the criteria of this GB?

I'd like to have a go at this one too, but all the various marks have been well snaffled, so, I was wondering if the captured Spitfire Mk V fitted with a DB605 would fit with this? I've a Classic Planes conversion for the Airfix Spitfire Vb I could build.

Steve,

Now we've got "the basics" covered, I am more than open to other offers. If you wish to do the DB605 (601?) variant, then that'd be fine by me. However, note that I would also be happy for someone to do second examples of variants that are already covered. After all, there are many paint schemes / detailed differences between different Mk IXs (for example).

Up to you.

Martin

Hi folks,

Dates for this GB are: 27 Feb to 10 April, so we've got our 6 week build period for those building multiple versions. For those not, I hope we can get some nice early finishes in the Gallery!

Martin

That'll do for me - it's looking like this will be the only GB I can commit to next year!
