Space Shuttle GB

Post by bluesteel »

As it is on it's last mission and about to end another era of manned space flight, how about a Space Shuttle Group Build, any scale any make?

I believe is a bit restricted. So... why not a 'real space' GB ? There are a lot of kits, from Vostok to Shuttle and over !

I think we could stay within the shuttle theme and still expand it to include any 'vessel' designed to take man into orbit and return under control i.e. not ballistically like the Apollos, etc and with a shuttle-like function so leave all your x-Wings and Vipers in their boxes...include the Orion shuttle from 2001, X-71 (Revell or Fantastic Plastic) from Armageddon, Colonial Shuttle from BSG (can't remember but someone makes one)...
Please critique my posts honestly i.e. say what you think so I can learn and improve...

I would really hope to keep it to a Space Shuttle GB as a tribute to the retirement of the Space Shuttle. But there's no reason why there shouldn't be another more general space vehicles build too.

I'd be interested in this one for sure. Its a shame to see the Shuttle retired, so a tribute to it would be fitting.
Will write history dissertations for modelling supplies...

Don't get me wrong this wasn't my idea but I believe the motivation behind the idea was to commemorate and honor the current Space Shuttle program.

Maybe in the future we could do an all encompassing "Space" group build.

Although fascinated by the real thing, it's not my area of modeling expertise, so this suggestion may be useless ...

How about "Space Shuttle or tied to it" -- meaning the space shuttle(s), the space station, any payload (eg, satellites) carried, and astronaut figures, etc ... That might exapnd it a bit while keeping the shuttle theme.

I don't see why it would need to be expanded. There are almost as many Space Shuttle kits, in various scales, as there are Spitfire kits. It's not a limited theme!

I agree, that is a bargain for a kit of that size.

It even comes with 2 space-walking astronauts, I wonder if it also includes a "vacuum" to realistically portray all this in ? Although I guess one could ask what they are doing space-walking while the boosters are still attached ?

We could make it a cockpit super-detailing GB ....

http://360vr.com/2011/06/22-discovery-f ... index.html;

Use your mouse to move around the cockpit as well as just watch it rotate. Up and down will show you the entire upper flight deck.
Drag your cursor for horizontal or vertical scanning and use your scroll wheel to zoom in or out.
