Right now, I'm not sure either way. I do wish to take part but may be a late starter.
Best I can say for now.

Yep! I'm still in
Best wishes

Re: The UAMF "Compact Diorama" GB - *** Gathering the flock
Think I might give this a go, have one sci-fi idea (but small 1/2500 scale), one aircraft (but 1/144th) and a 1/72nd aircraft. If any of these are a no go I'm sure someone will let me know!!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Still in John with a nautical theme.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Can somebody please clarify for me: can participants build any model that fits within a CD's perimeter or are we to build an actual diorama on a CD with scenery, etc.?

Re: The UAMF "Compact Diorama" GB - *** Gathering the flock
The original first suggestion was for a Compact Diorama on a CD. Since then its expanded a bit in nature if not in size, but I believe its still meant to be a diorama.dwomby wrote:Can somebody please clarify for me: can participants build any model that fits within a CD's perimeter or are we to build an actual diorama on a CD with scenery, etc.?

Re: The UAMF "Compact Diorama" GB - *** Gathering the flock
The title was Compact Diorama to match Compact Disc, the limiting base/size for the model. It is really difficult to say a real diorama was intended or that was just a clever play on words or both, but then again, an aircraft or car sitting on tarmac is essentially, albeit weakly, a diorama. Probably the best assumption was that the CD would be covered with something and we'd not just have a shiny CD, hole and all, sitting there. I think, to echo Fred, the purpose may be more to build a model that fits within ....fredk wrote:The original first suggestion was for a Compact Diorama on a CD. FWIW, I will have a minimal scenery cover over it.
And thank, folks, I have posted the responses received so far. Welcome Mark, from what you indicate you may be challenging Purplethistle for # of ideas ...

Just a wee tankie on a base for me. Unless I can fit a 1/72 Gee Bee racer on a CD. In theory it should be possible. On the other hand, it's an A-Model kit, so maybe I should stick to 8-track stereo. ☺

I still want to participate, just worrying about ideas.
Either military (have a couple Zvezda AT guns with bases that could be expanded), Sci fi (Possibly a Shuttle but maybe a vehicle or one of my figure kits that need doing) or aircraft (been thinking about a 1/350th diorama but maybe just something that fits in 72nd) or maybe more than one if I really get rambunctious.

I have a little problem with one of my ideas in that the craft selected overhang the CD perimeter by about >-- I.....I <-- this much. Can I get away with that or do I have to rethink?.

Re-think. I have arranged for a special satellite laser service which will indiscriminately obliterate everything outside the boundary of all CD's.MarkyM607 wrote:I have a little problem with one of my ideas in that the craft selected overhang the CD perimeter by about >-- I.....I <-- this much.
