PS...have only listed some models that meet the scale requirements for this GB...of course, one of the attractions of paper modelling is the ease with which the scale of a model can be changed to a larger or smaller scale: I've found that conversions from 1/100 to 1/72, and 1/50 or 1/48 to 1/35 or 1/32 are quite simple, especially if you have or have access to a printer which can print A3...A4=>A3 is approximate 1/48 to 1/32...

I would like to jump in. I'll be doing a flyable RC model out of foam and/or wood and tissue, around 1/20 scale. Possibilities are a Guillows 16-inch span Hurricane or Ju 87, a Dumas 17-inch P-6E, a Comet 25-inch Stinson Reliant, or something scratch built from plans.

By way of illustration here is a project from last year, a Guillows 16-in Fw 190. I'm just finishing up a Hellcat from the same series.

August, I'm OK with the larger scale stick & tissue models; I have noted these are under consideration for my build. I have added you to the list - welcome aboard !

Just for info, here's my selection list where I have expanded the stick-tissue section. Note I have the Dumas P-6E also, but if I choose, it'll be the Cleveland kit, much closer to a detail scale model ...

1/32, mainly styrene unless noted
Roden DH-2
Roden/Encore S.E.5a (Hisso or Viper)
Wingnut DH.9
Wingnut FE.2b (Early & Late)
Wingnut RE.8
Matchbox D.H.82 Tiger Moth
Matchbox Lysander Mk.I/III
Montex Hawker Fury (resin)
Montex Gloster Gamecock (resin)
Silver Wings Hawker Hart (resin)

1/24 scale
Airfix/Trumpeter 1/24 Hurricane parts, probably enough to make a whole one
Contrail 1/24 S.E.5a (vac-form, this would be a CBK I think)

odd scale and wood-y, most flyable
West Wings 1/18 Hawker Hart (wood, rubber FF Scale)
Model Airways 1/16 Wright Flyer (wood, metal, etc)
Hasegawa 1/16 Wright Flyer (wood, plastic, etc - started)
Top-Flite 1/6 S.E.5a (a gas eng plane I thought about building/converting to electric but probably never will)
Guillows, Megow, and Sterling SE5A kits in the 20-ish inch range
Ideal P-47 3/4"=1'
Cleveland and Dumas P-6E kits
Guillows Hurricane, F6F, Fairchild 24, Rufe (this may be for the "Zero" GB)
Easy Built Fairey Fox
Hales Hawker Fury

and lastly, I have a number of card model kits, without an inventory I'm not sure which are 1/33 or larger.

Nor have I made up my mind on any of this ....

John, you have some excellent choices there. I have the Easy Built Fairey Fox in the stash, and will get the West Wings Hart one of these days. I am currently finishing up a Hawker Fury from the 1935 20-inch Comet plans, available like so many others at http://outerzone.co.uk;. Mine has been resized to 16 inches to better fit the RC gear I wanted to use. I am not familiar with the Halse kit.

I'm really keen to follow the build of actual flying models as part of this GB. As long as I've modelled I've seen them on the shelves of model shops, even seen a couple fly but, apart from some small 2D ones with the girls, never seen the actual building process...

Wonderful website, too wonderful, stepping away right now ...

Sorry a typo, it is Hales FrogFlite Quickbuild Hawker Fury. Hales picked up the FROG flying kits, but I don't think the Fury, or any of the Quickbuilds, was a Frog original.

With 3 weeks to the start date, we have 8 sign-ups, and slightly more who haven't indicated either way so here's another reminder to confirm/deny your participation .. and others may sign-up, of course ....

The "rules" ...
A leisurely large scale planes GB running 30 July through 30 October, 3 months.
Large scale means 1/35 or larger. Size does not matter, scale does.
Planes means wingy-thingies of any era, markings, etc, to include sci-fi, real space, and whiff in that range.
Also any media - styrene, resin, vac-form, card, wood, etc.
Previously started projects will be allowed depending on the degree/lack of progress.

Sorry, not up for this one. As I wrote previously, my next big project is likely to be more nautical and, with Telford beginning to loom the timing isn't great.

Sorry, I just don't have the time now with so many Telford projects to build.

I have reduced my original list to these ....

1/32, mainly styrene unless noted
Wingnut DH.9
Wingnut RE.8
Montex Gloster Gamecock (resin)
Silver Wings Hawker Hart (resin)

odd scale and wood-y, most flyable
West Wings 1/18 Hawker Hart (wood, rubber FF Scale)
Guillows, Megow, or Sterling SE5A kits in the 20-ish inch range
Cleveland or Dumas P-6E kits

The WNW DH.9 is first choice with maybe one of the wood kits, but the idea of doing both the Silver Wings & West Wings Hawker Hart is very tempting ...

I've just been rummaging through the loft narrowing potential victims. In the pile so far to choose from are the following.
Matchbox 1/32
Spitfire 22/24
Puma
Tiger Moth

Revell 1/24
UH1 Iroquis

Revell 1/32
Mosquito
Beaufighter.

Still looking, more to choose from yet.

All the best.
