Making something other than the OOB kit? Hmmm, I could give that a try!

Re: Any type of kit Whiffery
Back in 1974 (Date is relevant) my built model collection was devastated by an even more destructive force than Storm Henry - Big Sister Linda 'tidying' my room.
One of the victims was my SRN-1 Hovercraft. Unlike most others, there were major parts missing ruling out a repair. Undeterred, I took the remaining basic hull and used it along with various spare parts including a spare Hurri canopy, Lanc mid turret, spare 1/24 truck coloured lights, various missiles to make a 'Space Expeditionary Force Bomber' and one of those wee keyring button lights was used to illuminate it from within.
To support the bomber I used the T shaped side vents to make 'S.E.F. Escort Fighters' these had spare 1/144 fighter canopies on top, more truck lights and 'wingtip' arnaments of Revell FW190 MG 181 gun pods for the 'Mk IIC' Fighter and Matchbox Panzerknacker Stuka cannon for the 'Mk IID'.
If you can visualise these, then you may have some glimmer of why I am not overly enamoured of Star Wars and the subsequent merchandise revenue.
Bitter? me?

Bitter?. don't blame you mate. I still haven't forgiven my sister Gail for destroying my Revell Cutty Sark by putting it on it's side in a cupboard then later piling books in the same cupboard. The masts were wrecked and so the hull ended it's days as an air rifle target in Roundhay park lake.
Oh and a pure 'Whif' build? I'm certainly in for this one.
All the best.
Greg

Re: Any type of kit Whiffery
I'd join in if it's late enough in the year - my modelling will have to go on hold for the summer.
