Can you get another?
I daresay I could get another figure, a 1/12 Sea Hawk on the other hand....! :ha:
You'd only need about 6 foot of it to recreate the photograph! :-D
Best wishes

Hmmm. I've seen them going for between $5- $12 (NZ) on t'internet....they would seem to be just lying about the street in New Zealand! If I can pick up one for around £15 incl. postage it would be nice to do this as an 'End of career' Winkle to go with the Udet one that I'm going to convert to a 'Martlet pilot' Winkle.

Update... the $12 one is in Canterbury CANADA, not New Zealand as I first thought!

Oooooft! the driver figure from NZ would only be about 3 and a bit quid but the postage would be over 22 quid!
There are a Plan B and Plan C however, there is a full set of 1/12 racing team figures and also a Tamiya 1/20 Motorsport team set that seems a bit more readily available so 'Retirement Winkle' might still be a possibility :-D

If anyone had their heart set on a Spitfire or Seafire, I'm going to be concentrating my efforts on the 1/16 Martlet pilot Winkle, 1/32 Winkle and his MG and a Sea Hawk pilot Winkle (1/12 or 1/20, depending on what I can get hold of. My LMS owner is going to be seeing his Tamiya rep next week and will try and pull strings :-D )

I know it's a long shot but I wondered if Daren would just possibly fancy doing a Seafire :ha:

As the date for this draws ever closer I have started doing my background research and sourcing kits. Does anybody know if a) there were any modifications to the Sea Vampire Eric landed on the carrier to allow him to do so (for example an arrestor hook) and b) does anybody know of any aftermarket decal sets for the specific Vampire in question? My research is so far throwing up a bit of a blank!

Grand thanks - none of the photographs/videos I found showed the arrestor hook! Should be simple enough to scratch build one though.

I'm in, but I just realized my "vacation" falls right in there - two weeks worth.
I am going to have to plan ahead and take along acrylic paints. and other necessities.

I have no excuse not to be in, unless I freeze to death in the coming snows.
Mine will be just a type build, as its near impossible to say what specific or how many Piper Tripacers 'Winkle' may have flown.
