Thought I had another 'Scene' from Winkles career that I could do for this, again without a plane in sight.
I had thought to do a 1/35 Winkle standing at a microphone beside a 1/35 Glenn Miller.
But upon re-reading the relevant part of WomS and other articles it seems that although Winkle sang 'At last' with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, it was only once Miller had left the hall after the practice.
Sorry if I'm monopolising this thread, but in lieu of a movie about Winkles life ( ideally directed by Spielberg with a George Lucas-esque budget ) I'm fired up about recreating as many events as it is possible to do in styrene.

Drat !!
I just ran the list of aircraft flown and found the Miles Libellula, but it was the M-39B twin-engine version (pic on pg 87, WOMS) not the M-35 single-engine version I just got from Planet.

I do not understand why I ignored or over looked you and your choice

I've amended the name-subject list on the first page
I've bracketed splash's Martlet choice for now
If he can't chose another subject I suppose I'd have to let him go ahead, due to my error.
Sorry it was my fault for not checking first, I was planning on building the Tamiya 1/48 scale wildcat, this is a late version with the wing fold.

Brickie are you building an early non wing fold version? If so we could both build them but if yours is also a late version I will find a different subject to build :-D

It wasn't your fault at all splash. But totally mine.
For some unknown reason I totally ignored or missed Brickie's claim for the Martlet; thus I'd not entered it on the list and it looked to be available when you claimed it.
Its up to me to keep that list in order. I failed.
I look forward now to seeing how you two tackle this subject.

Did someone mention the Airacobra, particularly the one that Winkle landed on a carrier for the first time? If so here's a link to a decal sheet with that actual aircraft, although it apparently was actually a
P-400 rather than a P-39

I did that one already, without benefit of a decal sheet, and won't repeat it, but it seems that someone should pick it up as it is well documented and photographed.

Don't know if anyone watches "The Great British Menu" on Beeb 2 of an evening, but we had some unexpected Winkle, so to speak.

Thanks for the link Brickie; nice to see recognition of his service from such a different line of work, and the informal setting spoke volumes about the man too.....lovely to see.
Best wishes

Damn! It wasn't until I was nearly finished the BSM Williams conversion that I realised that there was the potential to do this.....
