A6M 'Zero Fighter ' *** Complete / Archived ***

Post by Gadfly »

Hi,

Would there be any interest in a GB covering the A6M Zero fighter in all of its guises? it's arguably the most famous of all WW2 Japanese aircraft. Having a profound effect on the early part of the war between Japan and the Allies and being progressively upgraded to keep pace with the American introduction of better Aircraft.

Any version in any scale in any scheme but no WHIF's
The 'Zero' has been well catered for in all the main scales and the current crop of kits includes the nice new tool Airfix offering in 1/72.

As well as the Hobbyboss 1/72 easy kit..

Then there are modern wonder kits from Japanese manufacturers that seem to take pride in replicating Japan's most famous Aircraft.

I'd also propose that we'd allow the A7M 'Reppu' (Sam) and the A5M (Claude) and the A6M2-N (Rufe) as they were related to the Zero and it allows a bit of latitude and some interest to the GB without going too wide.

Thoughts and comments welcome...

Cheers

Always been a sucker for the Zero, ever since seeing Tora! Tora! Tora! when I was younger.

I'd be interested. That little Airfix kit is a sweet thing.

I've added you to the list. Understood on the date. We have to follow due process so a date had to be set and poll created etc.

GF, would you also include the Rufe as part of the GB?

Hi,

A Rufe is fine. Basically a 'Zero' with a float..I've edited the GB scope to include it in.

I am so very tempted by this one but I'll have to make up my mind when the date has been decided. I have a Rufe, and a Zero that I was going to do as a captured/post war aircraft.
Also, out of the scope of this GB I know but I also plan on doing Gary Numans Harvard/Zero. G-AZSC some time soon(ish).
Please put me down as a maybe.

All the best.

Greg
