I plan on building 4:
A captured FW190 in RAF markings, RAF Nightfighter Swordfish and possibly the MiG-21 and an RAF F4U Corsair.

If life doesn't get in the way, I do have a Matchbox Alpha Jet that I may join in with. Might help the mojo start up again....

Is it an early issue? in red and white plastic afair?
I think an Alpha was about my second or third Matchbox kit when they came out
A very nice kit I think.

Cool! An untouched, plastic wrapped Alpha jet kit.
I've decided that my entry is the F-104G. I'd like to do it totally oob, but I think the in-box decals might have an age issue. Nothing like trying, though.

I have a Fairey Seafox en-route chez iggie, which may be my chosen victim, or I have a Stranraer (I believe this is an ex-Matchbox kit) or a BAE Hawk.....
Best wishes
Jim

I think they might well surprise you. I tackled one a few years ago, and not only did the decals perform perfectly, when due to circumstances they got painted over and the kit subsequently stripped, I found there was no way to get them off again. As in, I hit them with primer so nasty it boiled off the underlying paint, 100% acetone, and sandpaper, and they didn't even blink. Matchbox had tough decals. Unless they've seen considerable abuse in the past, they'll serve.59North wrote:I'd like to do it totally oob, but I think the in-box decals might have an age issue. Nothing like trying, though.

I am going to try and complete the XtraKit re-pop of the Matchbox Meteor NF 11/12/14 it will be part of my 29(F) collection. The Char B1 bis/ Renault FT are not really items I particularly want to tackle at the moment.

Thanks John,
John, of Aeroclub, measured them up and found Matchbox over compensated on the nose.
AFAIR; John found; the longer of the noses is 15inches more from windscreen to tip. So Matchbox made the nose piece this much longer. But the 15 inches is because the windscreen/canopy on that version is shorter and further back, which Matchbox supply. The physical length of the fuselage of both versions is the same.
If you intend to do the very long nose version; don't use the very long nose parts, but the shorter one.TeeELL wrote:I am going to try and complete the XtraKit re-pop of the Matchbox Meteor NF 11/12/14 it will be part of my 29(F) collection. I may have to drop out of this one. An unexpected business trip will take me out of town all next week. Hopefully only for next week but there's a possibility it will be the following week too.

Right, Fred, I have put a built thread up. I will put all my dabblings in one thread, as I will probably start one and then while paint is drying or if I have to have a stop for checking something, I can pick up on another, as for a while, I will not have a computer in the modelling space, so "progress updates" can then feature bits from a couple builds...
