.. got the hump! Sopwith Camel centenary ** Completed **
Arguably the most iconic allied fighter aircraft after the Spitfire, the Camel had a significant impact on the air war in the latter part of WW1. Flown by a number of aces including the renowned Biggles and Snoopy , it was also alleged to have brought down the Red Baron himself*. The tricky dromedary was almost as much of a risk to its pilots as it was to the enemy. A worthy subject for a 2017 group build, no?
I'm flagging it early to see how much interest there is. I would be aiming for June 2017, given that was its debut in combat, but happy to move it to earlier in the year if there is enough demand.
Usual drill - any scale, so long as it's a Sopwith F.1 of some description (trench fighters, Comics, Naval Camels, 2-seaters all included of course).
Any takers? As they say, YCNHTMSCs
* Of course we all know that wasn't true and it was actually Australian ground fire that downed Manfred......
(pot stirred....worm can opened....cat released into pigeon flock.... )
Update - current takers as at 15/11/16

Provisionally temporarily pencil me in as a maybe.
I have a couple of other WW1 types to build first then I'll maybe add a Camel to them, in 1/48

I have a Revell 1/28 Roy Brown Camel and I think also the old Monogram/Aurora offering. I am in.

I'll copy this into the original post. We still need some more definites but it's looking positive so far. We still need more takers though.
jratz, I have you as (?) because I'm not certain if "that's a great idea!" translates definitely to "I'm in". I didn't want to assume.
I'd like to stick with the June timing for the Centenaryness (it's a word! ) of it, unless anyone has any major objections. For that reason I'm unlikely to run a poll and will only do so if a number of people say that June is a problem.

Hang in there with June/100th.
Keep me as a maybe. The Camel is not my favorite by a long way (rather Pup, DH2, SE5a) but I'll look around - it's a great GB idea.
