Re: So.... another Spitfire build next year?!
So, 75th anniversary of Operation Pedestal, 3-15 August would seem to offer more than enough aircraft and ships from both sides ??
It appears that 10-15 August is probably enough of a window, but there were some concurrent operations that might add to the possibilities.

Malta might work for me - I have a CR.42AS in 1/48 which would go nicely.

I have a decal sheet with a whole pile of Malta-based aircraft on it. Spits, Hurricanes, Gladiator, Beaufighter....!

Re: So.... another Spitfire build next year?!
The Siege of Malta commenced 11 June 1940 and ended 20 November 1942.
The George Cross was awarded 15 April 1942.
Operation Pedestal, one of many but arguably critical to Malta's survival, was 3-15 August 1942.
1942 + 75 = 2017.
Air, sea, land including civilian.
How about an extended build ?

So, do we want to go ahead with this as Operation Pedestal instead?

I'm glad someone is going to do her; the star of the whole show. Will she have the Stuka onboard?jRatz wrote:I am up for this, with the SS Ohio.

I made a draft title change and slightly fixed up your 1st post to not loose how we got here. Feel free to re-edit ...
In your next post, restate the starting parameters we have arrived at ...

Re: So.... another Spitfire build next year?!
It's 1/700 I did think about lashing Ohio between Penn and Ledbury but there aren't models of those two that I know of and just reading the Wikipedia tells me I could never ever ever ever not even come close to representing the damage to and condition of Ohio at that point .... so let's say this will be Ohio at the start of the GB periodiggie wrote:I'm glad someone is going to do her; the star of the whole show. Re: Operation Pedestal, with Spitfires ...
OTOH, a bit of spare time this evening and I have found, and have on order, the IBG Hunt II class kit for Ledbury and the Skywave/Pit-road O-class for a conversion to P-class for Penn .... and I already have a couple ocean-going tugs which may not be the right ones but it's early yet ....
Damaging the Ohio is still an issue, I got it to detail up ....
