F-105's got MiG kills but that alone doesn't make em eligible for this GB.

Plenty of other subjects though. Hopefully you can take part.
Thought as much, I know the F-105 did get kills but I've not heard of any aces so not surprised! . Maybe an F-4 then.... I'll investigate and see what matches in the stash!.
For the USAF Aces your looking as the F-4 C/D
For the Navy it's the F-4J 'Showtime 100'

I don't think any 'Aces' Flew the F-4E

UPDATE....

The F-4E was used by all the USAF Aces in Vietnam.

Ok as you can see above I've started to add peoples choices to the list.

Hopefully with the large list of potential subjects and the smaller pool of participant modellers we won't end up with conflicts.

I'll operate this on a first come first served basis.

Cheers

1. Francesco Barraca
2. Eddie V. Rickenbacker
Both in SPADS
#1 in a 7 and 13 [might do both or just one]
#2 in a 13

A few Israelis gained Ace status flying McD-D Phantom II F4E

Ok we're over the threshold for participants.

I propose 8 weeks to give everyone a good chance of completion. When do you want to start ASAP??

Let me know.

Question: How close do we have to be to correct markings ? I have ace's names, their squadrons, and the serial of the aircraft they scored in, but probably cannot come up with exact paint schemes, squadron marking, or aircraft code/marking -- in short fully documented markings. Having said that, it will be someone flying an RFC/RAF machine probably in 1918 and they all look just about alike; at some point in the year squadron symbols were being removed, etc.

I have to admit to being a week or two away from doing any serious research so a photo may pop up somewhere. I have lots of info on RFC/RAF fighter squadrons, but that's not what I'm looking at ....

I can't start for a few weeks yet. Too much else to do yet

I think just as near as you can possibly get it, as in the Capt Eric 'Winkle' Brown GB.

Just get it as close as you can given the information that's reasonably available .

I have a cunning plan!

I'm hoping to do a figure of George Beurling ....if I can get hold of one of the Airfix 'England stars' 1/8 footballers sets. :-D

....and we're on! Footballer set just ordered from Kingkit. :-D

I'm leaning towards an Iranian subject, possibly an f-14 flown by Jalil Zandi (11 kills). I have a Hobbyboss F-14 but not sure about decals.

Failing that I'm sure I read in Tom Coopers book about an Iranian F-5E ace shooting down an Iraqi MiG-25 Foxbat with guns. That is very impressive!

I'm sure I could come up with something for this.

Maybe a Spitfire. Or possibly a Zero, given my recent influx of them.

Count me in.
