Glider GB

Post by splash »

I was thinking a subject that's s not often built, but covers a wide range of subject, is a/c that are designed to glide.

This could cover everything from small single seat sports gliders to the space shuttle.

The types I think that fit the brief would be any scale for example:
  • sports gliders (several available from Polish manufacturers and Revell)
  • assault gliders (several from Frog, Airfix, Italeri )
  • X-planes and the Space Shuttle
  • Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet
  • british flying jeep
Here is one I built for the CD GB.

A silent flight G/B sounds good to me (pun intended). I'm in.

All the best.

Chalk in my name, please. There's 3 or 4 resin gliders in my stash, and I'd like to get one built soon.

I don't have any pure gliders but I do have the Space Shuttle, if that counts?!. Also have a 72nd Me163. Might see what else is out there.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

I would class both the shuttle and Me163 as gliders as they both have to land without power.

I would also be happy to allow powered gliders because they normally still land without power

I suggested something simlar to this quite a while ago. IIRC I called it something like an "unpowered" GB and suggested that it could include anything that moved without the aid of an engine so gliders, sailing ships and even bicycles could be included.

I have several Horsas, a Hamilcar and I think there is a Waco in there too. Plus the old Huma DFS-230.

So add me to the list.

The Me163 was tested first as a glider.

There is also a full-scale replica that used to fly at airshows in Germany - as a pure glider.
