Any interest in a Rhino build?
With Airfix releasing a new F-4K Phantom II in 1/72 scale this year, is there any interest in a F-4 Phantom II group build? The build will be limited to Phantoms that actually flew from the YF-4H-1 of 1958 to F-4S of 1994 and any variant in between.
The only exceptions to this are the F-4J(FV)S and F-4M(FV)S (Wind tunnel models actually built), F-4X and RF-4X (designed to carry HIAAC-1 LOROP camera), Super Phantom/ Kurnass 2000 that was actually built.
I am using "McDonnell F-4 Phantom; Spit in the Skies" edited by John Lake as the source for allowed variants.
So, any Phantom in any scale by any manufacturer is allowed.

On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Certainly not yet, but probably when the new Airfix kit is on sale and in my stash.

Darn it, I've just recently put paint on my four Matchbox Phantoms. I'll keep an eye on this build though as I have 2 ESCI F4S/J(UK)S and an F4E, plus a Hasegawa F4G and a Fujimi F4E. And I'm sure some place I have an ESCI RF4. oh and definitely the Academy F4 'showtime 100' and a nice set of QF4 drone markings in the decal stash.
All the best.

I was confused by the title as I've never heard of the Phantom referred to as a Rhino.

~Me too. I've heard the Buccaneer called a Rhino, but not the Double-Ugly.JamesPerrin wrote:I was confused by the title as I've never heard of the Phantom referred to as a Rhino.
I have far too many F4 Phantom II kits for me not to be interested in this.
I can wait if the others want to wait on the new Airfix kit

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

When is the Airfix kit due out?
I have just aquired an F-4E with resin cockpit to build as an Iranian Rhino so would definitely be up for this. It is the Hasegawa 1/72 kit, is that any good?

Re: Any interest in a Rhino build?
Airfix' website just says 'Winter 2017' which could be any time from October thru to March '18
Towards the end of the year they'll probably be able to give a better narrower estimate of DoA.
