Old clunkers, anyone?

Here's where the general chat and organization of Group/Shared Builds takes place, with Guidelines, the GB/SB Calendar, and an Index to completed GBs.

Old clunkers, anyone?

Post by Kevan Bailey »

Following on from some chat in the USS Montrose thread in Cargo Haulers, anyone fancy an old clunkers build? I'd personally suggest anything moulded before 1967, making it a neat 50 years.

Iggy's Montrose build is showing what you can achieve with old kits and there have been many other threads on this forum on the same theme. Participants could use aftermarket gubbins if they wanted to, or not. The whole aim would be to get the best result from something that hadn't been designed with the detail of our frankly astonishing modern kits.

Subjects chosen would be entirely down to the builder and don't have to be original, re-pops perfectly acceptable. So, anything from a Renwall/Revell Atomic Cannon to a Frog Miles Magister.

I'll be away from home for the summer (I seasonally migrate back to Canada) but if I'm home, I'm 'in' for this GB. I am in a mojo-less period right now and this could do the trick.

Afternoon chaps....

I have a 1961 Hawk Mercedes Benz GP Racer and a Renwal Pakard from 1965...
So if you can stand having thingies without wingies, I might be persuaded to join in :)

Very tempting but it all depends on when.

Having failed miserably at resisting I now have to consider what victim to choose from the stash. I do have an Aurora Piper Aztec that is tempting. I have quite a few to choose from though.

All the best.

That would be a great excuse to build the Revell ESSO Glasgow, as my late father served on the original.

So sign me up.

Considering that Revell has been re-popping a number of it's kits recently like their 1/32 armor with original Renwal boxart, would a Renwal or Revell SSP release be allowed?

I have Revell releases of the Lacrosse Missile and truck, Self-propelled howitzer, Mace Missile along with some ships.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!
