Bomber Build GB Poll Thread *** Completed/Archived ***

Post by iggie »

Arising from an original proposal by Martin R, this is a poll to identify a convenient time slot for the proposed Bomber build. To clarify the scope of the GB and reading back through the original thread, it seems that the consensus was for a generic bomber build, that is to say any aircraft designed from the outset to carry bombs (or a single bomb) as it's primary function. The ability to defend itself as a secondary function is permissible but not the reverse.

So, a Lancaster is in, a P51 with bomb racks is not.

The timescale will be for a six-ish week build, dates to include as many weekends as possible.

Please place your vote, and add to this thread to confirm interest, and chosen timing. The poll will run for 15 days from today :-D
If you have a specific time-slot you wish to add, select 'other' on the poll and put the details in your thread entry.....Thank you!!
Best wishes

Jim

Nothing works well -- I bought a WNW Camel for that GB in June and am planning a biplane bomber so things could get a bit complicated.

I picked mid-June, intending to get a running start on the Camel such that by mid-June the main work is done and that I can get into a bomber while I tidy up the Camel.

I voted for mid-may but as I have no other group builds planned I can be flexible.

I've got a XB-71 Valkyrie lined up for this year so will try and take part whenever it occurs.

From Wikipedia: The Douglas A-26 Invader (designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965) is a twin-engined light bomber and ground attack aircraft and that's good enough for me as the 26K is derived from the A (B)-26

I voted other for selfish reasons. I'll be gone late May to probably October.

I can go with whatever the group decides. That said, Hannants has just put up a Valom B-45 Tornado in future releases. Depending on when the build takes place, I would love to have a go with the B-45.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

We have seven votes; with me that would make eight.
The poll suggests early to mid-June as the favourite start time, so I'll go for mid-June as the casting vote.
If anyone else wants to join in please feel free to do so and I'll ask John to put this onto the calender

Excellent choice David; fully rigged I trust? I think from when I built it, there are full rigging diagrams in the instructions and the wings are moulded with separate upper and lower faces to make it easier!
Best wishes
