Star Wars Anniversary GB Proposal

Post by iggie »

From a comment made by MarkM607 elsewhere on the forum, this year is the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Star Wars film, on May 25th to be precise.
Anybody fancy a Star Wars themed GB; nothing too exacting so any kit, any genre as long as it is painted to represent a Star Wars theme, vehicle or character or any Star Wars based kit?

Thoughts? :-D
Best wishes

Jim

Having just nabbed three suitable kits, it would be rude not to join in.

I have a Fine Molds Episode II "Slave 1" in 1/72 and just picked up the new TIE Striker from Bandai. Depending on the date, I will do whichever one has not been built or the next future 1/72 scale Bandai kit. Needless to say, I am in.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

My Stormtrooper build was evidently a preemptive strike

I found the Revell 1/30th scale X-wing on Argos for £24-99!, it is £49-99 at Hannants, and £44-99 on Kingkit. However, despite being a big beastie (nice), it is pre-painted and snap together. I'm not sure if this is fair for a GB or not so I might search for something else. It does say EasyKit on it so perhaps I should have seen the above.

Go for it Mark! :-D I have the 1/72 Millennium Falcon around the place, and that's pre-painted; I'm just going to prime it all over and start again when I do get around to building it

Okay Matey I'll stick with it. I might make some painting additions, just to add some more depth, although it does look pretty good. I'm off to ebay to see if there are any cheap-ish older kits for Star Wars.

I'd be interested, got a few oldies already built and have the Bandai Darth Vader tucked away plus the old small X-wing from the Airfix 4 kit gift set. After November though would be best.

Ok, we have nine interested parties so any thoughts on timescales? We have one request for after November, any other proposals?

I forgot about today!!  . Better watch Star Wars tonight!. Anytime is good for me but if we can work it out I will know whether to put my kits into the loft until they're needed, rather than taking up storage space in my model room!. :ha:
