Sorry about that
Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
To be honest I enjoy the challenge of those old kits. I need to do the DC9 for Telford anyway and I want to do a C9 Nightingale from one too. May do those side by side.

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
I think I've built most my CBK airliners although I have a resin 1/72 S23 and a vac-form 1/144 S23 to finish.
I think all I have left unstarted airliner-wise in the stash are vac-form and resin biplanes, all in 1/72.
I'm not sure I want to tackle them in a GB. An SB might be possible but I have to watch my time availability, so don't count my nose as in it.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Those sound like interesting if somewhat difficult builds. If you can join in that would be fantastic.

When do we start?
Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
How about next weekend? I think maybe set it for six weeks and see how we go. From what I can gather we can stretch an S/B if needed.

Sounds good to me. I've already started reviewing the stash and my decal bank to see what I might tackle.

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
How about a 1/72 scale Aurora DC-9 that At;antis Models released back in March? I also have a Boeing 307, Boeing 377, Ford Trimotor and a couple Junker Ju-86s, all in 1/72 sitting ion the stash.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
Why not.
I don't think the SB is restricted to 1/144 - although that's the scale I'll be using. At the moment I'm eying the Minicraft Douglas DC-4 (which I would finish in Aer Turas colours) and I have a part assembled Airfix Boeing 737-200 (which has a set of late 1960s/70s Aer Lingus colours waiting to be applied).

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
The build is any kit and any scale as long as it flew and carried fare paying passengers. I am now on the lookout for one of those 1/72 DC9S. Don't fancy the 60 quid cost though.

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
I have a started Airfix Boeing 737-200. Would it be OK to include this in the SB - as I need an incentive to get it finished.
Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
It certainly is. I have one about half finished. It is going to be the 737 prototype in its NASA markings.

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
My ideas keep changing. I attended a very interesting talk on the Hawker Siddeley Trident hosted by Farnborough's FAST Museum last Tuesday evening and now the idea of a Trident build is floating around. I have two Tridents in the stash, the venerable Airfix Trident 1C and the F-RSIN 3B.
Choices, choices.
Choices, choices.
Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
Both would make great subjects. I had a rummage through the stash. 2 things about that. 1 I can't find the Airfix BEA Trident, just the BA one. And 2 I really need to get that mess into some semblance of order.
All the best.

Re: Anyone fancy an Airliner G/B? Or S/B?
My Airfix Trident is the 1993 "Classic Airliner" release which was in BA markings. However, I have a set of Liveries Unlimited BEA "Red Square" markings that I would like to use on it. I did have a go at using them on a previous Trident effort but I couldn't get the cheatline to line up properly around the nose area. That failed attempt now sits forlornly on my shelf of doom.
If I do have another go with this scheme, I'm minded to actually mask and paint the cheat line and adapt the decals to suit.
The Airfix kit does have some accuracy issues but they aren't insurmountable.
The F-RSIN 3B has BEA "Speedjack" markings - which are quite nice too.
Have we got a formal start date yet?
